I had a rooster like that once. Went after my youngest. She was 8 at the time. I stopped it quickly before it could do any real damage. It was always mean, but that was the last straw. We had chicken soup the next day. I have also had really sweet roosters too.

It happened to me when I was involved in a project for someone’s PhD in animal behavior/training, or something like that (it was decades ago).

We devised a little ‘play’ for the chickens to perform, and they all trained perfectly - that rooster learned to walk a tightrope, pull a tiny wagon, etc.

But when I tried to get it used to its little costume, it became enraged.

I decided then that I’d only ever keep chickens for eggs - roosters aren’t the best eating, anyway :-)
