Billionaire John Arnold's group sent millions to groups that backed 'defunding' police

Left-wing advocacy groups that have supported the controversial "defund" police movement have received tens of millions of dollars from a Texas billionaire who has backed efforts across the United States to overhaul the criminal justice system, records show.

John Arnold, a former Enron executive, has emerged as a major donor to organizations that have supported policies such as cashless bail that Republicans argue lead to crime spikes. Through his limited liability corporation, Arnold Ventures, the billionaire has steered $17.2 million to four organizations behind efforts and calls to strip law enforcement of crucial resources, according to records reviewed by the Washington Examiner. "Arnold Ventures opposes calls to defund the police," a spokesperson for the LLC told the Washington Examiner. "We are guided by the objective of improving public safety. Research shows that law enforcement can be effective at reducing violent crime and plays an integral role in ensuring community safety."

Arnold's donations through the years from his LLC have remained relatively obscure, despite other major philanthropists like George Soros gaining prominent attention in media outlets. Arnold Ventures does not legally have to disclose entities that it awards grants to, but the LLC says on its website that it has delivered hundreds of millions in criminal justice grants since 2015.

I've never heard of this person, but that's probably not a surprise. Wonder about that Enron connection.

He is the most successful natural gas trader ever.
He retired very young and very wealthy.
His success is attributed to outworking the crowd and taking huge risks.

What has always perplexed me is defunding police and setting criminals free on a cashless basis only hurts the dipshits that vote for such policies.
I don’t need or want police, I can and will take care of myself. Many people cannot or will not do that for themselves.
While I do not agree with keeping a guy in jail awaitng trial for months on end, he has a right to a quick trial in days instead of months. Fix that. You don’t bail the guy out. Judge him/her quickly.
A persons freedom is important, Judges and lawyers foot draging time isn’t.

If every cop knew they were just as on trial as the “criminal” they just arrested and with the possibilty of incarceration. They would be more polite and circumspect.
You would not need as many cops and you’d have some really professional ones.

I think part of the bail issue also connects to how the crime is charged. “Soros” prosecutors under-charge and by doing so it can push the category into a lower / no bail scenario.

Agree on speedy trial but then that gets into how inefficient the entire judicial system is. The millions it would take to try and improve that means more government.

I’d rather pay for quick justice than the hidden costs of crime.
I suppose you can say that is more government, but if you saw my PS that government would be way more under control.

18 May 2022: Reuters: Billionaire John Arnold backing energy-focused credit fund - sources
By Shariq Khan and David French
In 2012, however, with natural gas prices plummeting, a 38-year-old Arnold retired from managing others’ money to focus on philanthropy with his wife. Through his family office though, he has continued to invest in the energy industry.

The backing of EOC Partners coincides with natural gas trading at levels not seen since the era when Arnold made his fortune, as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine crunches global supply just as demand is returning to pre-pandemic levels...

The group’s funded by this fool are mainly MARXIST in orientation. Their goal is to bring down the last domestic defenses against crime and radical terrorists, and they are winning -Garcetti, Boudin, Krashnar, Bragg, Kim, etc.

These are the legal spearheads of the 100 year old MARXIST efforts to twist, pervert, use, subvert and destroy our police, intelligence agencies and many courts. I’ve seen the plan, plot and carryout this effort, with the audience, unwittingly and knowingly from our red infested law schools, esp. Harvard, Yale, NYU, UCLA/Berkeley, Georgetown, etc.
