When cops got there emts were working on leg. They had picked the gun up…. Still in its holster and they had asked my wife to back her car out for more room. They gave okc cops the gun. Cops asking what happened and i told them while emt was trying to straighten foot to align with leg and immobilize it. Some cops behind me put crime tape across garage entrance. Wife was watching. They asked her nicely to wait their car. (Im 63 and she is 69) No one went in house. We live in an upscale suburb house when in okc. Ambulance showed up not long after leg was immobilized. Pretty quickly cops decided it was truly an accident as me loudly expressing my discomfort and answering questions. Ambulance took me. Wife said cops told her the process to get gun back. Apologized for needing to keep it. Took crime tape down etc
This gun was a private purchase in about 95

Thank you for the information kjam22.
Prayers up , I’m sorry this happened to you. It’s a lesson to all of us that we can never be too safe.
Having said that, I will continue to carry with one in the chamber.
Oh, one more thing- if you still carry after your recovery, get a new handgun.
All my best…🙏
get a 1911
I don’t know, maybe just let the cops keep that particular one and get yourself something that’s more modern and drop safe? :P If you want something familiar, there’s lots of CZ-75s and clones out there that handle exactly the same but actually do have the drop safety systems intact.
Prayers for your swift recovery.
I would rather be shot in the other leg than have to go thru the post accident bru-HA-HA with the cops. Thank God there was a minimum of adrenaline flowing for the situation. Thanks for your humbleness to post this. We all learn from it.
Prayers Up!
