Patton was not wrong. He was right.
In 1945 we could have at least have pushed the Russians out of the countries they’d occupied and, if needed, we could have nuked them into submission at a time when the US was the sole nuclear armed nation.
Had we committed to the war we would have won it.
Not sure if that would have worked, we were in Czechoslovakia, but had to get out and let the Soviets in.
Even half of Austria was occupied by the Soviets, until Austria agreed to be neutral and not join NATO.
> In 1945 we could have at least have pushed the Russians out of the countries they’d occupied… <
Yes, but it would have been a terrible, bloody mess. As I noted earlier, the Red Army of 1945 was a crack outfit, and very stubborn on defense. As you noted, it probably would have taken a nuclear weapon.
But the Congress and the American people would never have stood for such a thing. In a way, it would be like if Biden launched a surprise nuclear attack on North Korea. Maybe that would stave off many future problems. But it would also horrify many people, including me.
Would the generals even obey such an order, by Truman in 1945 or by Biden in 2023?
Interesting hypotheticals, anyway!
But see we aren’t talking about here. We are talking about your slobbering love for Russia and that building a church building is enough to buy your loyalty.
At least ol’ Bill and Hillary attempted to have some deniability and showmanship when offing someone. If they built a church and cut your taxes I would have to assume you would go full Monica on the Bent One yourself.
J6 was a group of idiots and sheep having the world’s worst riot. Philly fans have better riots after losing championship games on a regular basis.
Maybe you should worry more about things here also, and less about reinforcing the knees of your jeans every time Putin releases a shirtless photo of him wrestling a bear.
“Don’t forget Kaiser Wilhelm during WW I. His armies won some impressive early victories against the Russians. Then things kinda turned into a stalemate.”
Kaiser Wilhelm actually decisively beat the Russians in WWI. By shipping Lenin back to Russia to start the revolution.
Funny thing is, if Putin had just stayed on his side of the fence, none of this would be an issue. It’s almost like this is completely his doing.
“Only grossly ignorant doesn’t realize modern-day Russia is a different country than old Soviet Union.”
You do realize you’re denouncing legions of Russians as grossly ignorant, right?
The Russian Army openly flies the Soviet Red Banner every single day.
The Russian Navy flies a big Soviet red star flag on the foremast of all of their ships. Many Russian navy ships have the Red Star on their superstructures or funnels.
The Russian air force all use the Soviet red star insignia.
Even on new government buildings the Russian government installs shields featuring the Soviet hammer and sickle.
Red Square is still called Red Square.
The national anthem of Russia is the “State Anthem of the Soviet Union”
Numerous Russian military units still use Soviet hammer and sickles on their hats, helmets, shoulder boards, medals, belt buckles, and etc.
None of this is a secret.

“Putin restored some Soviet symbols. He brought back the Soviet national anthem and Soviet emblems”
So is Putin ‘grossly ignorant’ since he is actively restoring the trappings and the form of the Soviet Union?
The correct way this all should have played out was for the West to not support Russia during World War Two and at the end of it to insist they withdraw from any conquered territories or else face total destruction and conquest.
Don’t forget that Russia was Hitler’s willing co-conspirator in the invasion of Poland which started WW2.
It seems similar to the Chinese Communist Party having that name or Americans having monuments of slaveowners.
> Kaiser Wilhelm actually decisively beat the Russians in WWI. By shipping Lenin back to Russia to start the revolution. <
Yep. Wilhelm beat Imperial Russia in the way you noted. I wonder how history would have changed if Lenin had an “accident” while in Germany.
I dunno. Maybe nothing would have changed, as the Tsar was a dunce. Maybe Stalin just would have taken power earlier.
Speaking of “grossly ignorant” here you are.
Washington and Jefferson were slave owners, do you hate them too?
And what do you know of the Reconciliation Movement of the 1920’s?
Wait a second, wasn’t Stalin Georgian? Georgians are Caucasian not Slavic. Why would he say that? He had some Russian heritage, but was predominately Georgian, Azerbaijani, Armeian, and a some Jewish heritage.
You are charming.
Kinda strange to consider that Hitler was Austrian, and Stalin was Georgian.
That’s why it’s not a good idea to have non-native born people as your leaders.
That's exactly why the Washington DC establishment at that time, shut him down.
Anyone who's read Patton's history knows he was a very well read student of military history, studied his enemies and allies well and knew full well what Communism was and still is today.
Different labels can get thrown at Communism to rebrand it as "more friendly & less deadly" and that still doesn't change the truth that Patton spoke about it.
Austria had many problems. Broda Barnes, in his book about hypothyroidism, mentions some of their health problems. They had an important population with goiter caused by iodine deficiency and at some point, they had the highest rate of cancer.
> That’s why it’s not a good idea to have non-native born people as your leaders. <
Add to your list Napoleon, who was not born in France proper.
And Obama, who was born…well, who knows where?
“You are charming.”
No, lately I’m rather intolerant of people slamming on my country and comparing it to Nazi Germany, Red China, the USSR, or the Confederacy.
“The correct way this all should have played out was for the West to not support Russia during World War Two”
We were shipping military supplies to the USSR before we entered the war. Germany had committed 150 divisions, over 3,000,000 men, to their Russian invasion by the summer of 1941. If Germany had defeated Russia many of those divisions would have been free to fight on the western front.
