The wife made Christmas cookies with the iconic Hershey Kisses. Damn things were imported from Malaysia and melted into a blob ruining the recipe. Found out they substituted Veggi Oil to replace cocoa butter. Screw EVERYTHING Hershey.

I confess my first thoughts ran along the lines of the comedians here, but my wife has issues with dairy and gluten.
I don't like the "plant based" marketing name, since it already has the association with meat-replacement products. Plus, when I start listing ingredients of the originals, I have the think about it before I get to the non-plant ingredients (and I still only come up with one.)

Milk Chocolate has milk solids (dairy milk, that has let the water evaporate) so I assume that is what they are replacing in these things.
For those that have dietary issues with lactose etc I could see them being a market, but the general treatment of dairy cows is not a huge inhumane issue as a need for an alternative is bs... Most Dairy Cows have a crazy cushy life in spite of what the animal rights activists claim..
