I didn’t know until much later Derringer sang Hang On Sloopy as well.

He went by his birth name Zehringer back when he and his brother Randy were in The McCoys.

My first and only K-Tel album had that song on it.

Played guitar on a few Steely Dan tracks. In an interview either Becker or Fagen said he was their favorite session guitarist because he nailed the guitar parts right off the bat and didn’t go off on tangents. A very talented guy and highly sought after for studio work, played on a ton of albums for other artists.

Talented musician who played with some the best, such as Roger McGuinn (ex-Byrds), Don Felder (ex-Eagles), Leslie West (ex-Mountain), and Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen. Very intelligent man who is a humble Christian and brave Trump supporter. And yes, he is a cool guy.

Saw him live with Johnny Winter And and a couple years later with Edgar Winter’s White Trash.
