More than $250 billion in Covid-19 relief funds were lost to “fraud” and “waste,” the directors of three US government agencies testified before the House Oversight and Accountability subcommittee on Thursday.
Compounding what Deputy Inspector General Sheldon Shoemaker of the Small Business Administration (SBA) called “the biggest fraud in a generation,” the officials stressed that the figures they gave represented an extremely conservative estimate of the total amount lost as they did not include the amount defrauded from the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program.
According to a statement submitted by Shoemaker ahead of the hearing, the SBA has already uncovered $190.7 billion in potential fraud across relief programs under its jurisdiction. Specifically, it expects to find upwards of $100 billion within the scandal-plagued Paycheck Protection Program. Acting Treasury Inspector General Richard Delmar admitted to just $2.6 billion in dubious charges confirmed at his agency, pleading that ongoing audits precluded making an estimate of the full cost.
Larry Turner, inspector general of the Department of Labor, blamed the massive losses on a lack of preparation, insufficient oversight, and even the government’s generosity, making a “highly conservative” estimate of $76 billion in fraudulent spending. With no functioning system in place to verify applicants’ qualifying details in a reasonable time frame, the “unprecedented infusion of federal funds” into the program made it irresistible to fraudsters, he told the subcommittee.

That’s our money. So, what will be done? Will anyone be fired? Prosecuted? Crickets.
Government people laundering that money to themselves. Of course they will say it’s just gone, can’t find it.
Imagine the swindling that will be going on when the white guilt, bleeding heart, white supremacists in the turd rolling, Dung Beetle Party start dishing out billions of taxpayer dollars to “former slaves”. $250 billion is going to look like chump change.
And that’s just the stuff they consider to be swindling. Considering the extent of the lockdown compared to what it should have been, a drop in the bucket. What a hustle.

We did the right thing and returned the money sent to my deceased Mother from the 1st. stimulus.

I received one of those checks. It was made out to my wife and I, she had recently died when the checks were cut. When I deposited it at the bank I asked them about it. They said they had not heard a reason not to cash it. A few days later it was in the news, I called the telephone number that I found and I wrote a check to the Treasury Department for 1/2 of the check. I documented it, have not heard another word from them, they did cash my check.
Thinking about that again, she did not die that recently. I had forgotten the timing. A lot has happened in the past 3-4 years.
The long and short? This has been and is continuing as a plot to destroy the USA. Take us down and enslave the world.
Two thoughts.
1). When blank checks are signed and passed out they will be cashed. Who is really at fault, the check writer or the check casher?
2). Government tyranny is expensive. The stimulus payments were the byproduct of the government enforced unnecessary lockdown of the economy. The decision to lockdown was instigated and implemented by government bureaucrats and were justified based on lies promulgated by those same bureaucrats. Who are the criminals here? The lying bureaucrats or the people who cashed the checks the bureaucrats handed out?
Washington DC is a criminal enterprise.

A lot of the covid relief funds ended up becoming get out the vote funds. Just another way the dimrats loot the treasury for their own benefit.
Insufficient oversight causes it it’s par for D.C..
Many estimates have it actually closer to $500B.
And guess who has been put in charge of investigating it?
None other than Michael Horowitz, the DOJ inspector general, who whitewashed all the Comey, McCabe, etc, crimes.
