I believe that she was in on the planning of the whole thing before it happened. The event very much helped along her one piece of signature legislation, an anti-lynching bill. There were public events prior to the whole thing where they were both present and they clearly knew each other in advance. This was designed to create a political event that would help them both.

But the amazing thing about the event - was that Juicy put himself in legal jeopardy, embarrassed himself to the nation, and destroyed his acting career forever by engaging in this manufactured outrage for her.
