On this day in 1998, President Bill Clinton settled a sexual harassment lawsuit by making an $850,000 payment. The settlement with Paula Jones, reached without the suit going to trial, heaped fuel on Clinton’s impeachment proceedings by the Republican-controlled House. (He was acquitted in a subsequent Senate trial and completed his term in office.)
In the aftermath of the settlement payment, most of which went to Jones’ attorneys, Robert S. Bennett, Clinton’s attorney, maintained that Jones’ claim was baseless, and that Clinton agreed to settle only to end the lawsuit and move on.

Preceding rumors of his incoming indictment, Trump called the attacks a “political Witch-Hunt,” and reiterated “I never had an affair with Stormy Daniels, nor would I have wanted to have an affair with Stormy Daniels.”
Remarkably, Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, had already been dealt a defeat in the courts. As reported by RSBN, Daniels was ordered to pay Trump $245,209.67 in attorney fees for her initial failed lawsuit against him, along with an award of $292,052.33. This double-defeat for Daniels seems to have meant nothing to those who have been mobilized to find something – anything – to charge Trump with.

Remember when Democrat Congressman John Conyers paid $27,000 to squash a sexual misconduct complaint in 2015, and he paid it out of his Congressional Office budget, the same year he was running for re-election? Remember when then Democrat Presidential candidate John Edwards paid his baby mamma/mistress in 2008 from campaign funds to keep her mouth shut about their affair? Remember when, in 2017, it was disclosed that Congress had it’s own slush/hush fund, and that over a period of 20 years it paid out $17 million dollars to settle all types of complaints?
His was bigger-bigger settlement.

At least half of the money paid Paula Jones came from a blind trust belonging to Hillary Clinton. The other half was supposed to have been paid by an insurance company.
the issue was campaign funds being used I think in Trumps case. But it’s not an issue that would result in jail, simply a fine.

When the insurance companies started to object to the claims, Clinton settled the case with a sweet deal, paying her directly, $850,000. That is the only money Bubba and Hillary actually paid out and it came out of their personal assets.
