I thought mental issues automatically prevented gun ownership. (statement by another FReeper)Only when a person is adjudicated mentally deficient by a court of law. IOWs you get the due process of facing your accusers and your own lawyer to rebut the accusation.
I hope that doesn't change but Red Flag Laws are doing their best to overturn that so your aggrieved spouse, neighbor, co-worker, employer, online screwball can file a complaint and have your guns permanently taken from you.
It may seem like a tough thing that you can't take guns from someone with mental problems without going through a formal legal procedure like that but answer me this ... do you think they'll be taking guns from trannys or conservatives with those laws?
