this friday is looking like it could be a repeat of the historic 1974 Outbreak....the threat area almost identical. And just 3 days from the actual date. Still stunned by what happened in Mississippi last week..

probably the most studied tornado ever...so rare to catch the actual beginning of such a violent tornado.

Lived in nearby Centerville, OH at the time. We had moved from CA to OH and knew nothing about tornadoes. Well acquainted with earthquakes but bupkis on tornadoes. It seemed like there were warnings/watches for days prior to when that hit Xenia. I stood at a window and watched the rain and hail come down. Bad time..

I recall the 74 storm, here in Iowa, first time I have ever witnessed a green-grey sky, very unnerving...

Any chance this area could shift West?

Yep. Goes darker and darker, then takes on a notably green tinge.

Meanwhile in Kansas, people go outside to watch.

i was outside of Detroit...and never saw sky like that, before or since. Could not believe how low the clouds were...almost tree top level. The clouds were racing in opposite directions....with an eerie type darkness the entire day. While no tornado struck my area, you could tell something really bad was happening else where...
