I’ve often wondered:
Do food service workers tend to have tattoos because tattoos are so prevalent in the industry, or do they work in food service because they have tattoos?
I think it is the former. Tattoos are everywhere in the 40 year old and younger set. For various reasons I visit the hospital a few times a month.
Even some of the Urgent care staff or Medical Assistants have those sleeve tattoos, that look like a striped Barber pole.
That, too, happened over time. My years as a waiter in the 80’s were NO tattoos, piercings, weird hair, etc. allowed. It was the time of punk and new wave but “Don’t bring that to work”.
I probably would have, so I can look back and say I’m thankful for those boundaries.
