Dead rodents litter PM's official home, but do Canadians care?
BBC News ^ | April 12, 2023 | Jessica Murphy

From the White House to 10 Downing Street, political leaders live in some of the world's most iconic official residences. But in Canada, the fate of 24 Sussex Drive, home to the country's prime ministers for more than 70 years, is up in the air after it was allowed to fall into uninhabitable disrepair.

The list of problems would turn away even the most ambitious buyer looking for a fixer-upper.

The home that has welcomed the world's elite - from John F Kennedy to Princess Diana and Mikhail Gorbachev - now sits empty, a fire trap rife with asbestos, lead, and mould, aging electrical wiring and rusted water pipes near "catastrophic collapse", according to a federal agency. Drafty windows let in frigid Ottawa winter air and the house lacks central air conditioning for the summer months.

I guess the largest rodent already moved out of that place.

Why should Canadians care, when their government doesn’t care about them? With this administration, not sure I would care if the White House became infested with all kinds of nasty critters. It already has a very nasty critter currently inhabiting it.

Rodents have rights, too.

Dead cats, dead rats
Can’t you see what they were at, all right
Dead cat in a top hat, wow
Sucking on a young man’s blood
Wishing he could come, yeah
Sucking on the soldier’s brain
Wishing it would be the same
Dead cat, dead rat
Did you see what they were at?
Fat cat in a top hat
Thinks he’s an aristocrat
Thinks he can kill and slaughter
Thinks he can shoot my daughter
Yeah right! Oh yeah!
Oh right! Yeah!
Dead cats, dead rats
Think you’re an aristocrat
Crap, that’s crap!

Heck, given the visitors to the White House during Bubba, Dorkbama, and Biden’s reigns, we know that there are a hell of a lot of cockroaches, rates, and excrement left behind. Truth be told, the place should be declared a health disaster area and disinfected. Send the vermin back to their home states of California, Massachusetts, Oregon, Seattle, and New York. Canada has nothing on the slime stinking up America.

"...Rodents? Bunnies? Squirrels? Nutria? It makes a difference..." Well, the biggest rodent is Rattus Trudeauensis, but it apparently has infested a different house.

I don’t think Justin Trudeau and his family have lived there since he was first elected PM in 2015. Instead they split their time between two other official residences. One is more or less across the road (Sussex Drive) on the grounds of the Governor General. That one is called Rideau Cottage but it’s a full sized house. Their other frequent stay is out of town at Harrington Lake in Gatineau, Quebec.

The Harpers were living at 24 Sussex Drive but started to make a list of things needing renovation, nothing much has been done. I think behind the scenes they have already decided to tear the place down and put up a more modern style of home suitable for future prime ministers.

The home most suitable for this prime minister is about a hundred miles south, namely Kingston Penitentiary.

Trudeau the first had a separate pool house installed when he lived there and it is connected to the house with an underground passageway. The house supposedly is now full of rats... one wonders if the infiltration of rats was caused because of that access from the pool house....
