This is Sabaton’s cover of Motörhead’s War epic “1916”. This is an emotional song and video about the Battle of the Somme. You may need some tissues handy.
Sabaton also honors Lemmy and Motörhead in the video. Classy.
Lest we forget.
Will admit I have never heard of these guys, but the song and video are awesome.
not bad but not even close to the impact of the original (And no I am not one of those people who doesn’t like covers)

Thanks!
With this band, I usually gravitate towards the “classic” lineup, i.e. Lemmy, Fast Eddie Clarke, “Philthy Animal” Taylor, who came out with “Ace Of Spades” and the like.
The only tears I shed are over the sheer pointlessness of the "Great War." 57,000 British dead in a single day...for what? The stop the Kaiser from overrunning France...just to allow Third World scum to overun Britain today without firing a single shot? England, Scotland and Ireland now have non-Christian leaders, and both the UK and France are doomed to Islamic domination.
And the forced multiculturalism of the video is also annoying. Like the fat black sow in Juicy pants cares a lick about the sacrifices of those men that day.
When the gray shadows creep
And the world is asleep,
In the still of the night,
Baby climbs down a flight.
First she looks all around
Without making a sound.
Then baby toddles up to the telephone
And whispers in a baby tone:
"Hello, Central, give me No Man's Land.
My Daddy's there, my Mama told me;
She tip-toed off to bed
After my prayers were said;
Don't ring when you get the number
Or you'll disturb Mama's slumber
"I'm afraid to stand here at the 'phone
'Cause I'm alone,
So won't you hurry;
I want to know why Mama starts to weep
When I say, 'Now I lay me down to sleep'
Hello, Central, give me No Man's Land"
All three of them are no longer here :(
You’re welcome!
I agree that World War One was a terrible mistake which set off a tragic chain of events which will lead to the downfall of the West.
Yes, sadly. Fast Eddie was the last to go.
Original guitarist Larry Wallis died in 2019. Original drummer Lucas Fox is still alive at the time of writing.
Hawkwind guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Dave Brock is still around too.
Oh stop with your self righteous virtue signaling.......Sheesh!
You cannot top Lemmy's version.
They’re a Swedish power metal group. Lots of their songs are historical stuff about war. Just makes a good combination with metal I suppose.
I only know about these guys because of their collab with Babymetal. I’ve been meaning to check out more of their stuff.
Check out En Livstid i Krig Be sure to turn on closed captioning. Who else composes a song about the Thirty Years War? And listen to the Swedish audience.
