"Not For Prime Time Ron" DeSantis Embraces the High Heel
Slate ^ | MARCH 07, 2023 | CHRISTINA CAUTERUCCI

One of the few reliable truths in electoral politics is that voters like tall presidents. The average U.S. president is about two inches taller than the average U.S. man, who is 5’9”.

Recent presidents have skewed even larger: Every president since Jimmy Carter (5’9.5”) has been 5’11.5” or taller. We haven’t elected a president smaller than the average man in nearly 130 years, when short king William McKinley won his election. “We are a species that equates larger size with maturity, leadership and sex appeal,” wrote Jay Mathews in the Washington Post in 1999.

“If we were like some insects, where adults are smaller than larvae, we might not think this way. But we do.” So it stands to reason that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is thirstily gunning for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, would want to, let’s say, amplify his stature. Rumor has it that the governor is around 5’9”. His expected closest competitor in the GOP primary, Donald Trump, was, at 6’3”, our third-tallest president, a fact he repeats to himself five times in the mirror every morning before taking a deep, restorative breath and going on to face the day. And the man DeSantis would have to face in the general election, Joe Biden, clocked in at 6-foot-even at his 2023 physical. (Biden measured just 5 feet, 11.65 inches in 2021, an enduring mystery that suggests either some kind of supernatural yoga practice or a White House physician with poor attention to detail.)

"Not For Prime Time Ron" doesn't turn me on. I can't get excited listening to him, but right out of the gate his taste in clothes and how he wears them sucks wet dog fur.

The cowboy boots are reminiscent of Ted Cruz.

Sorry, Ron, I'm just not in ta ya.

How did Ron Desantis end up as tall as Tiger Woods? I thought that he's only 5' 9" tall.

A issue-free, shallow article promoting ridiculous reasons for choosing a candidate.

I’ve read DeSantis is being pushed by the Bush family (particularly Jeb).

Weird article. But given that it’s from far-left Slate, it’s not surprising. Anyway, just to spite Slate I’m going to vote for that middle Munchkin guy in 2024. He looks tough.

Trump has been attacking DeSantis from the left. Was that the inspiration to bring up an old Slate article to smear DeSantis on a physical attribute? People wouldn’t have elected Trump before 2016, but as the culture gets worse, people look beyond their old biases (i.e. mean tweets or average height)

The leftwing MSM is now joining Trump in attacking DeSantis.

They understand that Trump, the Pfizer-Disney candidate, is a sure loser but DeSantis might possibly defeat them.

Desantis doesn’t excite me. I can’t really put my finger on it, as frankly I liked the guy before he started the chicken bleep remarks against Trump, (i.e. “I can’t comment on what it’s like to give hush money to a porn star.”)

He’s not polished, he not naturally gifted, he needs experience, he’s like white bread....etc.

Look at his shirts. The collars are bent, meaning he washes and irons his shirts at home, and forgot to put the collar stays back in the shirt.

The suits look like they’rer from “small, medium and large” rack.

He’s obviously just another politician to a lot of people, bandits becoming more noticeable each time he talks.

Trump is on Levin tonight. Let’s all watch it together, and see if Trump still has that “it factor” that “Not for prime time, Ron” doesn’t have.

Wow. You've got quite the hard-on looking at guys clothes.

Trump hates on Ron even though he's supposed to be far ahead in the polls.

Democrats hate Ron because they are worried he could win.

Now the GQ segment hates on Ron because of his collars.

As long as we're discussing physical attributes, here's the author.

“Now the GQ segment hates on Ron because of his collars.”

Sorry, I don't want a president who looks like he bought his clothes at the local Goodwill.

Clothes make the man....Dress for Success....etc.

You see it one way, I see the article hits the mark because it outlines the truth about the “Not for Prime Time, Ron” that he's trying to be someone who he's not.

He's not, and will never be a visionary and someone I'd want to follow.

Metaphorically speaking, Obama was an empty suit, Biden the same.... Desantis is a “cheap suit”

That’s easy.

Biden is old. Cartilage disintegrates in the spine and people get shorter. Happened to my 6’5” dad well before and he died at 81.
