Local surfing magazine will stop publishing indefinitely
On Friday evening, CEO and founder of the magazine Santa Cruz Waves Tyler Fox announced in an Instagram post that the magazine will pause indefinitely.
The magazine, which has published six issues a year for the past nine years, was a guide to all things surfing in Santa Cruz for locals and tourists. Boasting advertisements from local businesses, the magazine also covered environmental issues with its most recent issue dedicated to climate change.
“It has been a joy, it has been an honor working with all of our advertisers, the community, the artists, the photographers, everyone involved,” Fox said. “I want to thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.”
The news comes amidst significant cuts across the media industry for local news and media giants alike. Most recently, Disney announced cuts at its news department, letting go of 50 people at ABC News on March 30.
Sad what that place has become. On a trip down PCH, I stopped there for a night. I’ve never seen so many stoned stumblebums in my life.
Nice beach, the train on that main street, but you really needed to stay alert.
You are from Southern California?
Nope. Texas and New Mexico. Just was on a road trip and wanted to see the locomotive on that tourist train for sentimental reasons. Had no idea that town was so nasty. Had so much potential.
Because no one in Northern California, probably north of Santa Barbra calls it PCH.
Up here people call it "Highway 1" or "the 1" but never PCH. It also goes by Cabrillo High, but I've never heard anyone call it that.
I call it Cabrillo Highway all the time :P
Easier to call it 1 though.
US-101 is the Pacific Coast Highway north past Mendocino County, However I was not aware they call CA-1 that down in L.A area.
I call it PCH” and I live in Georgia.
Well, East Coast girls are hip...
