Study links drinking coffee and tea to increased macular retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (2-3 cups of coffee or > 4 of tea, helps)

The next time you're sipping your favorite hot beverage, consider what it

Dr. Lisa Zhuoting Zhu has found a positive link between coffee and tea consumption and the thickness of our macular retinal nerve fiber layer.

The macula is the central part of the retina at the back of the eye that gives us sharp central vision. The retinal nerve fiber layer is a thin layer of nerve cells that transmit visual information from the eye to the brain.

"Our findings indicate if we consume two to three cups of coffee or more than four cups of tea per day, the macular thickness will increase," says Dr. Zhu.

She used the macular retinal nerve fiber layer thickness as a measure of the brain's health: "The thinner the layer, the higher risk of neurodegeneration."

Participants from the UK Biobank study were asked how many cups of coffee and tea were consumed daily on average over the last year.

Groups were divided into four categories: from zero cups to more than four cups per day.

Their macular retinal nerve fiber layer thickness was measured by using an optical coherence tomography (OCT) scan.

The results showed that coffee drinkers had a significant increase in macular retinal nerve fiber layer thickness, especially those who drank two to three cups of coffee per day.

Tea drinkers also fared well, with a significant increase macular thickness in people who drank more than four cups daily.

Dr. Zhu emphasizes their study found there is a "sweet spot" for coffee consumption and having a healthy macular retinal nerve fiber layer thickness.

"That means not too much and not too little," she says.

"Many studies have indicated that instant coffee could be a risk factor for many health outcomes, including neurodegenerative diseases, which we also found in our study.

Is it because all the bouncing of the eyeballs from the caffeine load strengthens the tissue?

I'm newbie yeah right. I only read titles of your posts though, mostly are allopathic medical establishment stuffs unlikely scientific methods or mostly pseudoscience things. Do you know what's Midazolam? It's the lethal injection drug used in the executions of convicted to death criminals in the U.S., in April 2020 was used to euthanized at least 28,000 elderlies at elderly cares and nursing homes in UK all deaths counted as Covid-19 deaths in April 2020. That should be the one you're researching or investigating. What did thousands and thousands Italian elderlies injecting with in the late 2019 that so many died but listed as Covid-19 deaths? Ah that's conspiracy theory?

Are those Covid-19 jabs and boosters are necessary and would protect you from supposedly Covid-19 infection? You should be researching that and you can post what you find out here than posting all kinds of study says, study says, and study days stuffs.

Apparently but theres “ a “sweet spot” for coffee consumption”, which is good or I would need a second head to hold them all.

Science is a cheap whore.

***It tells us whatever we want to believe anyhow.***

Covid, climate change, DDT, caffeine, booze, marijuana, ozone hole, margarine vs. butter, cigarettes... and especially anything related to big pharma. And now we have “zero emission cars.” hahaha

In America, we cannot even get something as simple, and fundamental as a “food pyramid” right.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PBf58Molvc

Science is merely a label slapped on a political, social, economic, corporate idea to make it “feel” like it’s the logical thing to do.

MOST of what gets this label slapped on it is not truly science based.

When the idea of “science” is invoked, you should immediately think, snake oil salesman: https://www.ceros.com/inspire/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2017/01/snakeoil.png
