2 Supreme Court justices did not recuse themselves in cases involving their book publisher

Two Supreme Court justices did not recuse themselves from cases that came before the court over the past decade involving a publishing company that’s paid them in lucrative book deals.

In two separate copyright infringement cases concerning the publishing conglomerate Penguin Random House, the high court declined to take up the appeals, with the court saying in 2013 that it wouldn’t hear the first case, and the second case being turned away from the court in 2019 and again in 2020. In both cases, the publisher won at the lower court level, and those decisions stood.

Liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who joined the court in 2009 and has been paid millions of dollars from the publisher over the years, declined to recuse herself in all three instances.

Conservative Justice Neil Gorsuch, who joined the court in 2017 and also has received hundreds of thousands of dollars in book deals with the publisher, declined to disqualify himself from the more recent case when it came before the court for consideration.

RBGinsburg, as I recall, got a shitload money for her book and nobody on the Left complained about it nor about the Dems who flew on Epstein’s Pedo Express numerous times or stayed at his houses for a little fun and reportedly little/young girls.

It being CNN, I’ll want to see positive proof about their claim re: Gorsuch.

Nor is Kagan recusing herself from the Harvard admission case despite being a dean at the law school for 6 years.

It is in all probablity those judges made decisions not based on the monies they received. Particular the liberal judges. They just vote liberal and The Constitution be damned.

Justice Thomas is a man that has extreme honor and allegiance to The Constitution as are the other conservative judges. Oddly, I suspect monies received by the judges both left and right had nothing to do with their decisions.

However, the Supreme Court needs to clean up its standards for all their judges. If you accept even one dollar from an advocate before you, it is imperative that you recluse yourself from the case. It would be impossible to apply this standard retroactively as all the judges would have to recluse themselves from many cases.

PS
Judge Clarence Thomas is my hero.

I think it is really sad that the people in trust in the highest court in the land, or trading on their position, receiving or making money because of where they are and not recusing themselves from related cases. And if it were not for who would be replacing them, I would absolutely call for everyone of them to resign.

Notice how the number of ANTI-Conservative-Justices-bent news stories involving SCOTUS GROSSLY outnumber the number of stories involving the Liberal/Socialist members of the court who all have done the EXACT SAME THINGS?!?

I'm sure that is just coincidental...

More importantly, the reason Congress is pushing this narrative is that Conservatives (real ones, not people who necessarily have an "R" next to their name) have been pushing the need for laws that will make insider trading by CONGRESS CRITTERS illegal! Congress critters (Ds and Rs) are TRYING to take the heat off of THEIR corrupt, money-making schemes!

The multimillion dollar payouts from publishers is the main reason copyright has pretty much become eternal.
