A Louisiana man allegedly shot a 14-year-old girl in the back of the head as she played hide-and-seek with a group of friends on his property — where he told police he opened fire after seeing “shadows.”
David Doyle, 58, has been charged with aggravated battery, four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, and the illegal discharge of a firearm, police said.
The incident occurred Sunday morning in Starks, a small town near the border with Texas, where police received reports of a shooting.
Detectives determined that “several juveniles were playing hide and seek in the area and were hiding on the neighbor’s property,” the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

And cue the race baiting lefties melting down in three, two, one…
Isn’t 14 way too old for “hide and seek”?
She was prowling, more likely. Maybe looking for unattended items to steal.
Another reason you should know your neighbors. Find out who they are, what their lives are like. Some will be friends, maybe a few might cause trouble, most will be neutral.
I see kids in the creek behind my house fairly often. I know who they are, where they live. Because of this, I don’t mind them playing back there.
What the heck has people so worked up that they just start shooting at anything that moves? I get the whole “judged by 12 instead of carried by 6” thing but the outcome really isn’t any different if your decision is likely to get you life in prison anyway.
Is the girl ok, in the hospital, DOA? What? Headline and 1st excerpt with no data on the most important part of the story.
FAIL.
You have no idea what you’re talking about. But that won’t stop you from spewing out whatever comes to mind.
It was a secluded cul de sac. Three houses... the shooters house, the victims house, and a victims relatives house.
You’re an idiot. (just getting that out there)
Interesting that Breanna Taylor’s boyfriend can shoot a cop and she gets killed in “return fire” and a capitol crime goes into swing on the cops.
But here’s what’s even worse:
“His arrest is the latest in a recent spate of shootings involving young victims being targeted by older people reaching for their guns.”
So now it’s older people having guns that causes the crimes. I’m older, I have a gun, does that make me a suspect to shoot someone for those reasons. (The gun is legal) Or is this their efforts to apply Alinsky’s rules RULE 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon,” and RULE 12: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Bull/bear fight.

Leaving the specifics of this incident aside, but addressing the whole series of similar instances I have to say we have a population that in a large portion was not properly trained in the use of deadly force.
Firearms are deadly weapons and should not be used in alarm, irritation or plain anger. Unfortunately, we have people that have firearms without the proper training and discipline.
I was thinking the same. You can’t shoot just because you think you see something or someone. Be sure of your target and what’s behind it.
He will be seeing plenty of late night shadows at Angola.
We also have people who lack discipline with vehicles and keyboards.
I’d say lack of discipline is behind most problems.
My parents always had a rule, don’t go onto neighbors property to play.... unless it is with the neighbors children you are playing. In my head I can still hear, “Don’t be stupid” trespassing will get you shot. Back then of course it was with a 12 guage loaded with bird shot or rock salt. Yes, in 2023 you still need to be mindful of boundaries.
With that said, you shouldn’t be shooting at shadows. If you are that paranoid or blind, your children should have long ago removed dangerous things from your reach. See? This is the proper place for a sawed off shotgun. Kills you dead if within a few feet, like in a house, but you can fire it off at kids in the shadows and have them jump out of their skin, but go home with a story.
I thought most of the Louisanaians moved to Houston back in 2005.
No.
Did you play hide and seek when you were 14?
