Cleopatra was descendent of Ptolemaios Soter, one of the generals of Alexander the Great. After the dead of Alexander, his empire was divided (violently) into his generals. Ptolemaios took over Egypt and adjacent countries.
His descendants were in habit of marrying within the family, and speaking Greek, not even learning the Egyptian language.
So Cleopatra was of pure Macedonian descent!
Present day analogy would be to make queen Victoria black/Hindu since she ruled African and Indian colonies.
I think the confusion today is that people see individuals like Kamala Harris, who has a light brown skin tone, and immediately jump to the conclusion that she is black.
The same for Mediterranean peoples - we forget they have an olive cast to their skin tone, and some people immediately jump the the same conclusion - they are black.
When it reality, neither Harris nor Cleopatra are black. Nor Hamilton. Nor Queen Charlotte (who has a TV show).
