Whether she's walking the halls at Hillcrest High School in Dallas, or catching up with the other athletes on the basketball court, Andrea Tchinda exudes star quality.
Wednesday was her first time back on campus since the graduating senior found out she was named valedictorian.
Proud principal T.J. Florie called to give her the news.
"It was just a moment that made me emotional," Florie said. "That means a lot for somebody that looks like her to look up to her and say, ‘She can do this, I can do this.’"
It's another crowning achievement for a girl who was born and raised in Cameroon, and only moved to the United States at age 13.
"I was mad, I was like, ‘Why are we moving? I want to stay with my friends. I don't want to leave,’" Tchinda recalled.
Her parents moved to Dallas, on a visa, to give their five daughters a better life.
She didn't speak any English when she enrolled in Dallas ISD.

See? See how a bright young smart educated girl can become someone? Oh. And let’s just ignore the tens of millions of immigrants who are bankrupting our country.
If she did this solely on merit, more power to her. If she was given grade inflation to vault her above other students so teachers and administrators could gush over a “compelling life story,” then the award is a fraud and other students were cheated.

Why do her looks matter?
Having a degree from Harvard today is a CURSE, it is not even close to what it used to be!!
Immigrants from Nigeria have the highest education/income level of any discrete ethnicity in the U.S. Cameroonians aren’t doing bad, either: I know a couple of families in my church, and they’re well educated and well-off.
Now, if American black people were to adopt the habits of African immigrants - “She can do this, I can do this,” as Principal Florie said - that would be a very good outcome for everyone.
Her parents came over here from Cameroon and had her work hard to get good grades in high school so she could go to college. That is great for her. But now she is going to Harvard. So, in four years she will come home with a hatred for her family, America, and probably all men (if she is not already transitioning to male). Going to Harvard used to be something to be proud of. Now it is a mark of poor-quality education and ill temperament.

Yep. In today’s world of preferential treatment, affirmative action and desire to promote black success, you have to take every story like this with a pound of salt.
But I hope she truly earned it and that she will do good in life.
not part of the “we be owed” crowd, knows one has to work for what you get.
I’ll take here over most of the hoodrats that were lucky to be born here.
