After T2 diabetes diagnosis, I swichted to splenda, then truvia. Heck...reports like this made me go from 3/4 coffee, 1/4 whole milk. Still sweet to me w/o the blood sugar issues.
Mmmm.....chlorinated hydrocarbon, just like DDT. You can destroy fire ant mounds with sucralose.
Have to compare it with the effects of corn sweeteners. Using splenda definitely reduces my blood glucose.
I was a Splenda junkie for a few years...gave up most of it when I stopped drinking diet soda and gave up the rest when I started caring about my microbiome. Nevertheless, as this is a headline-making “discovery”, we should be asking who funded the study? Big Sugar has lost a lot of business to Splenda.
I like coffee with condensed milk in it. Not sure what sugar is I. Condensed milk if any, but it adds just a touch of sweetness to coffee which I drink cold now.
Ok just looked up condensed milk... ugggh, it’s 50% or more sugar lol.
The product you probably want is evaporated milk as it is not sugar-sweetened beyond the natural milk sugar/lactose.
All of the newly named sugars but not sugars go directly to your liver for processing. Just like with alcohol, the liver can handle about an ounce an hour. After that it gets stored away in the liver/pancreas as FAT to be processed later and your blood sugar is low and happy and you have cirrhosis of the liver or Non alcoholic liver disease.
The High Fructose Corn Syrup advocates never told anyone that, did they?
Thnaks- What I try to do is make like a cold cappuccino taste, which needs the sweetness, but just a little. I will try the evaporated with just a hint of sugar- the condensed seems like diabetes in a can now that i looked into the contents lol
Diabetic for 25 years and counting. Tried every artificial sweetener known to man, can’t stand the taste, some give me nasty headaches. Been avoiding them for over 20 years. Call me Mr. Natural - I use honey if I use sweetener at all, which is not often.
Exactly. Medical studies, once respected and trusted, are now suspect, depending upon the funding source. Look what happened with all of the fake studies "proving" ivermectin and HCQ were either dangerous or useless against the Chinese virus. Many were later retracted (after the damage was done).
I’ve been drinking diet colas- I guess I better re-think that…
Another reason to get off the diet cola…
Well, this is new.
But it doesn’t matter, especially if one reading this understands why it doesn’t matter (Capt. Obvious).
A new review from Schiffman and Rother1 on biological issues related to sucralose is an opinion piece that reiterates past opinions expressed by Schiffman that have been previously refuted by experts in safety assessment. The publication represents no additional research and does not consider the vast evidence on sucralose which concludes that it is safe and can also be an effective tool in weight and diabetes management in humans.
Schiffman previously wrote a low-fat/high carb cookbook for the Nutrisystem diet, and has been a one-woman Cassandra against sucralose for a long time. While sucralose has problems, all the current sweetener alternatives are demonstrably worse by a long shot.
