I never found Dune to be credible but when the movie came out in the 1980s I watched it a few times and it was interesting.
The 1984 movie was interesting, but had several discrepancies.
There was no Sonic Weapon/Weirding Module in the book, they had lasers, called ‘lasguns’.
The Guild Navigator interpreter would not have threatened the Emperor, he would have been immediately killed.
The Harkonnen Heart Ring was not in the book.
The child Bene Gesserit, Alicia, could not read minds...
However the costumes were great and were in keeping with the book.
