Adam Hadwin Gets Tackled By Security For Trying To Celebrate With Nick Taylor After Winning RBC Canadian Open

What a waste of champagne.

After landing a 72-foot eagle on the fourth playoff hole Sunday to win the RBC Canadian Open, Nick Taylor had a friend that wanted to celebrate the moment with him. However, event security had a different idea.

When Taylor got the victory, his buddy (and fellow golfer and countryman) Adam Hadwin took a bottle of champagne, shook it, popped the cork and went running onto the green to party. But before he could get to Taylor, Hadwin was absolutely blasted into the putting surface by a security guard, and we’re talking NFL-style here. Or CFL since it’s Canada.

I mean, dang, if you’re not familiar with who Adam Hadwin is, he’s a PGA Tour winner and two-time Presidents Cupper. Further showing his stardom, he recently threw the first pitch at a Toronto Blue Jays game. But none of that mattered, my man got treated like he was the guy in attendance who happened to get a little too drunk and thought he was a part of the event. The problem was, Hadwin was (he finished T12).

Here was Taylor’s winning moment where you can hear Jim Nantz acknowledge that Hadwin had been tackled:

And here are three different angles of the actual incident:

What I wanna know … how did this even happen?

This man is a star, a PGA champion, somebody who has the brand appeal to make a first pitch at a MLB game, and the most important of them all in this scenario, he’s Canadian. How did that security guard make the massive mistake of not knowing who Adam Hadwin is in his own country where he’s extremely popular? At a freakin’ golfing event?!

I’m thinking somebody might be out of a job after this…

IMHO the security guard got carried away singling out Hadwin, given all the other people on the green at the time.

Because, nowadays, Canada is a joke of a country, would be my guess. Their response, at a national level, to the COVID pandemic speaks to just how much those people have lost the thread.

It’s not the security guard’s job to decide who gets to rush onto the course waving a bottle. It’s his job to stop anyone who might be a threat, and he doesn’t get to take a whole lot of time to think it over. I think the guard deserves a bonus for quick action.

Don’t they wear some kind of badge or ID to show they are not just part of the crowd?.................

I'm sure they do, but it's a 3"x5" ID on a landyard around his neck. He came running onto the field, spraying champagne at Taylor. It was a split second decision on the part of the security detail, without time to check IDs.

Hadwin was not wearing a badge. He was dressed in jeans and a hoodie. He did not look like a player at the time.

Completely agree with your statement here. This security dude had a job to do and he did it.

On TV I watched Nick TAylor win yesterday. In an not usual circumstance, a brother of mine (he plays golf twice a weeK) called me shortly before Tommy Fleetwood tied Nick forcing a playoff. He was watching the match on his TV at home. We watched and talked with each other all through to the end. That rarely happens with us - though not quite as rarely as a Canadian winning the PGA Canadian Open (which last happened 69 years ago).

Yikes, could’ve ended that players career if broken bones or anything like that!
Hope he’s ok to play this week, US Open.

The events I go to have badges of different stripes and colors, literally, that enable you to visit the event.

“It was a split second decision on the part of the security detail, without time to check IDs.”

So he had to take down the threat. he coulda been an ISIS frogman spraying Sarin over the winner. He might have looked innocent, but that’s just a disguise.

The security state commando extremist mentality rot is everywhere. I’m surprised he wasn’t wearing a plate carrier, or some butch cop tacticool vest festooned with 5 tourniquets, 8 magazines and flexcuffs.

Clearly a terrorist threat. if you see something say something. Frisk grandma at the airport. Indoctrinate. Terror is everywhere. Al Qeida frogmen coming out of manhole covers. Cornmeal hell, that is anthrax powder in yo momma’s kitchen. Take ‘em down with extreme prejudice. Send him to Gitmo, terror, fear, terror, fear, and more fear.

He’s lucky he didn’t fall down in a hail of lead I guess.

Security state mentality idiots.

Long gone are the days of Morganna the Kissing Bandit charging the mound at your local baseball game.

Ah, the good ol’ days, when America knew know to have fun.

Couple of things about dear Morganna ...

1) She was married, the whole time she was “active”.

2) According to wiki she’s blonde and has green eyes. I pass no judgment on whether or not she’s classy.
