NYC teachers get fat 20% pay hike in new, 5-year, $6.4 billion deal

New York City educators will get fat pay hikes and bonuses of up to 20% under a new five-year, $6.4 billion labor contract announced Tuesday by Mayor Eric Adams and the United Federation of Teachers.

The top teacher salaries for the longest serving teachers will exceed $150,000 for the first time.

The proposed contract also cuts in half — from 15 to eight years — the length of time it takes most teachers to reach a salary of $100,000.

The agreement covering 120,000 teachers and other staff also expands voluntary virtual learning opportunities for students — an initiative pushed by Adams and Schools Chancellor David Banks.

“It’s a great contract for the teachers. What’s in it for the students? We need to put something in there for the students,” said Assemblyman Sam Pirrozolo (R-Staten Island), past president of the island Community Education Council 31.

150 grand for being a teacher??

Then again, NY has a very high cost of living including high taxes, so there’s that.

You don’t actually expect them to produce educational results, do you?

And the Teachers union will continue to support Democrats.

One of the reasons we need to end the Federal Dep of Ed.

Instead of watching their pennies, the Ed Unions have been taught they can rely on increases in Federal aid, as THEY help raise local ed costs, and use their politicians use high local ed costs as the excuse for raises in Federal aid. Lots of Federal aid only goes to help feed the addiction of constanly raising local ed costs, with too little restraint.

Government unions are the worst, most abusive monopolies that exist today.

Probably test scores will sky rocket UP, and New York will be the home of the smartest kids in America.

More proof, as if it were needed, that nobody owns a home in NYS.

You just rent it from the government.

I wonder how much NYS makes these days from foreclosures, home equity theft, and its land banks...

Buying votes with other people’s tax money.
It’s what NYC Dems do.

All the time, everywhere.

Let it all burn.

“nobody owns a home in NYS.”

Do you ever get out from under your rock?

Blue Dem NYC is not Bright Red MAGA King Lovin’ NYS.

Lots of wonderful places NOT in NYC.
Manhattan is NOT the entirety of NYS
Lots of NYC folks own their homes.
And yes Virgina, many folks own their own homes outside of the NYC shiiteholes.
