Leaders of SAG-AFTRA expressed optimism Saturday that they will achieve a “seminal deal” with studios, networks and streamers to avert an action like the writers’ strike that has nearly shut down scripted production.
“We are having an extremely productive negotiations that are laser-focused on all of the crucial issues you told us are most important to you,” SAG-AFTRA National President Fran Drescher said in a video message to members. “We’re standing strong and we’re going to achieve a seminal deal.”
Drescher told members she could not release details because “Frankly, it’s very confidential what’s going on in there.”
She and Executive Director and Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland stood in front of a room with rows of tables lined with people involved in negotiations.
“We remain optimistic that we will be able to bring the studios, networks and streamers along to make a fair deal that respect your contribution to this industry,” Crabtree-Ireland said. “But we have a narrow window of time remaining before out contract expires.”
That window will shut Friday if the sides don’t reach agreement or agree to continue.

Writers strike...
LOL.
I hadn’t noticed.
Not me.
I do not understand the writers strike as the liberals share the money right? Equality you know. The actors who make fantastic sums share that money with the crew right?
The free Pluto tv has several hundred tv shows plus movies. The tv shows range from the 1950’s to present day.
I watch the older shows as I do not want to see gay people. Except for Paul Lynde on Bewitch or Hollywood Squares : )
The older shows tend to be better written and have more varied stories. The problem with Pluto tv is the commercials where they do insert gay people....
“We’re standing strong and we’re going to achieve a seminal deal.”
And how much of that semen has Drescher gotten on herself?
Who’s watching that useless pap anyway?

Scroll down to the why.
Wouldn’t surprise me if what this is really about is bennies.
It ain’t about the “art” or they would write better scripts! : )
Me neither.
These late night hosts make 10’s of millions each year. They do not share the wealth with the people who made them the money.
Replace them all with even more reality shows.... from Youtube : )
Fallon always looks wasted.
Jerry Seinfeld had him on his ‘Comedians getting coffee’ show and Fallon had to be fed lines by Seinfeld who was trying to help him but Fallon was not funny at all as he could not deliver, same for Jon Stewart who is not funny.
If they can pay the late night hosts millions they can pay the writers. Tv shows like Seinfeld and Friends rented out for $400 to $500 million to be run in syndication.
They should take the opportunity to cancel the late night hosts and bring in you know... funny people that entertain instead of lecture.
The shows are used as propaganda instead of entertainment.
8 episodes is not a season.... 39 then 26 was the norm then 20 then fewer and fewer to 8. The shows are pretty bad overall.
Dreary and dark and whiny for the dramas and comedy is done by rote, just add a laugh track. The tv commercials hardly mention the product but instead talk about feelings.
I watch many shows on the free Pluto tv that have thousands of episodes thru my Roku device so will not miss any new shows not being produced.
