Putin in his own words: "They miscalculated"
meduza ^ | June 26 | Vladmir Putin

Posted on 06/27/2023 9:16:40 AM PDT by RandFan

Dear friends, I once again address all the citizens of Russia. Thank you for your composure, your solidarity, and your patriotism.

This civic solidarity has shown that any blackmail and any attempts to cause internal turmoil are doomed to failure. I repeat, the highest level of social consolidation, executive and legislative power at all levels, and a firm, unambiguous position of supporting the constitutional order were taken by public organizations, religious confessions, and leading political parties. Virtually all of Russian society.

One key thing united and rallied everyone: responsibility for the fate of the Fatherland. I would like to stress that we immediately made all the decisions needed to neutralize the threat, and to protect the constitutional order and the lives and security of our citizens.

The armed rebellion would have been put down in any case. The rebellion’s organizers, despite losing common sense, could not help but understand this. They understood it all, including that they had taken criminal action, that they had split and weakened a country that is now facing a colossal external threat, and unprecedented pressure from abroad, when our comrades are dying on the frontlines amid cries of “Never retreat!”

However, the organizers of the rebellion, having betrayed their country and their people, also betrayed those who were dragged into the crime, lied to them, drove them to death, at gunpoint, to shoot at their own people. This is exactly what’s wanted by Russia’s enemies and the neo-Nazis in Kyiv, their Western patrons, and various fifth columnists. They’d like Russian soldiers to kill each other, for soldiers and civilians alike to die, so that Russia ultimately loses. And for our society to split, choked in bloody civil strife. They’re rubbing their hands together, dreaming of taking revenge for their failure at the front and during the so-called counteroffensive.

But they miscalculated.

Thanks to all our military personnel, employees of law enforcement agencies, and the special services who stood in the way of the insurrectionists. They honored their loyalty to duty, to their oaths, and to their people. The courage and self-sacrifice of our fallen hero-pilots saved Russia from tragic and devastating consequences.

At the same time, we knew that the vast majority of the fighters and commanders of the Wagner Group are also patriots of Russia, devoted to their people and the state. They’ve proved it with their courage on the battlefield, liberating the Donbas and Novorossiya. They tried to use them without their knowledge against their own brothers in arms, with whom they fought together for the country and its future. Therefore, from the very beginning of these events, they took steps on my direct orders to avoid bloodshed.

This took time, including to give those who made a mistake a chance to come to their senses, to understand that society resoundingly rejects their actions, and what tragic, devastating consequences for Russia and our state the adventure into which they were were being dragged was leading.

I thank the soldiers and commanders of the Wagner Group who made the correct decision and did not move ahead with fratricidal bloodshed. They stopped at the last minute. Today, you have the opportunity to continue serving Russia by signing a contract with the Defense Ministry or other law enforcement agencies, or you can return [home] to your loved ones. Those who wish will be able to leave for Belarus. The promise I made will be kept.

I repeat, the choice belongs to each of you. But…I am confident it will be the choice of Russian soldiers who have realized their tragic mistake. I am grateful to the President of Belarus, Mr. Alexander Lukashenko, for his efforts and contribution to the peaceful resolution of the situation.

I repeat, it was precisely the patriotic spirit of citizens and the consolidation of Russia’s entire society, that played the decisive role in these past few days. This support allowed us together to overcome the most difficult challenges for our Motherland. Thank you for that.

Why does Putin need to hire a mercenary army in the first place?

But they miscalculated.

Putin should know what miscalculation looks like.

June 24th looks to me like imitation the Dems used J6 against their opponents I think Vlad is following their lead.

Brazil imitated J6 on January 8th this year and Pakistan did one on May 9th.

Now Russia’s turn.

“But they miscalculated.”

They sure did. Just like everyone who continues to state that Ukraine is winning/has won the war; this is simply not the case.

Putin is dying. No question. But he’s not dead yet.

One of my non Western or Russian sources of information on the Uke crisis is Victor Orban. I trust him more than either sides disinfo. Orban says the stalemated quagmire will continue. I agree.

“I don’t see much significance in this event,” Orbán said, answering questions about his thoughts on the march of Yevgeny Prigozhin’s Wagner fighters to Moscow.

He noted that the Hungarian special services had information about what was happening in Russia, and according to them, “it is not important”.

Orbán has clarified that he does not consider President Putin to be weakened after the events of this weekend.

“If this could happen, it’s a clear sign of weakness. But if it happened in 24 hours, it’s a sign of strength... You know, Putin is the president of Russia. So if anyone suggests that he might fail or that he might be replaced, then he does not understand the Russian people and Russian power structures,” Orbán said.

He added that in Russia, everything functions differently than in European countries. According to the Hungarian Prime Minister, Putin will remain president in 2024.

“Russia does not work the way we do. The structures in Russia are very stable. They are based on the army, special services, and police, so it is a different country, it is a military-oriented country,” the head of the Hungarian government said.

According to Orbán, Prigozhin’s trip to Moscow will have no effect on the situation on the battlefield in Ukraine.

“I think that everything is over, and the war continues. This is not an event that will lead us to peace, because I always look at this war from the point of view of peace, because I think that the most important thing is to achieve a cease-fire and somehow to agree to peace. This event will not play any role in that,” Orbán said.

This is the they that Putin is targeting. I just hope that their stupidity doesn;t result in "we" who didn't elect them, from getting nuked for their nihilistic idiocy. They want color revolutions around the world but they have nothing to replace it with except idiocy, incompetence and perversion.

Supposedly they are mercenaries created by Russian intelligence. We have groups like this too. Progozhin is just a figurehead not a fighter. He looks bad though.

Why does Putin need to hire a mercenary army in the first place?

the largest mercenary armies (or security "risk-management" if you prefer) are British and American.

We all remember Eric Prince's Blackwater PMC, made famous during the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan. They have since been merged into a larger security company called Constellis - which is owned by a huge hedge-fund, Apollo.

They get over $15 billion per year in US Fed.gov contracts.

Seems America's oligarchs have their own private armies as well.

Well, the US hires, pays richly, supplies free weapons to ISIS Terrorists, and let's 'em keep all the oil, children and slaves they can steal, so it's probably a money thing.

Until now, Wagner worked for a cut of the profits of the Resources they controled, they were not paid directly from the Russian Treasury, until now.

Now they get Russian Military pay, which is much, much less for doing the same work.

Why rich people hire body guards? Mercenary fighters are a quick way to boost military activity.

No only American Neocons. Russian Insurrectionists as well.

https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/prigozhin-is-back-on-his-soapbox-two-days-after-outright-mutiny

“The march showed many things demonstrated before,” Prigozhin said, according to a translation by the Wartranslated Twitter handle. “Serious security concerns around the country. All military bases and airfields were blocked. If actions on 24 Feb 2022 were done by forces as trained as Wagner, the special operation could have ended in one day. This shows the level of organization that the Russian Army should be following.”

God bless Putin, a wise and courageous leader, and a reasonable man.

Putin is not only fighting for Christian Russia. He is fighting against the globalist evil whose agenda includes every single component of the rainbow flag, including free sex with children, and free mutilation of children’s sex organs. IOW, the things the evil globalists are trying to impose on humanity.

No, he’s fighting for power and land.

It’s a mistake to think the Ukraine War is just part of our culture war.

No Putin is fighting for national security purposes to keep a NATO military base from setting up on his doorstep.

For the same reason we hire Blackwater or whatever they’re called now. Soldiers get a market wage for the risk they are taking. And the state has less responsibility for them in a sense while still achieving national objectives, and retains more flexibility in their use.

Next question sport.

I don’t really think he miss calculated in going into Ukraine. He had two choices. Do nothing and watch as NATO militarized the entire border of Ukraine with NATO forces, and ultimately attacked Crimea and turned Sevastopol into a NATO Navy base. Then standby idly as the Banderist Ukrainian military completed their ethnic cleansing in the east.

OR option two, he could take the action he did, as much as it sucks, and hope for the best. So he was left with a bad choice…,and a really bad choice. But it’s not a miscalculation. Because if he accepted the first option, there would never be any undoing it.

Hopefully his action winds up destabilizing and weakening DC as a side benefit.

Failed analogy.

Brains aren’t your strong suit.

Even if it weren’t a failed analogy it still wouldn’t answer the question, just broaden it.

"But they miscalculated."

Prigozhin made calculations Putin and his regime failed to make at all. Despite the sheer numbers of military personnel and equipment between Rostov and Moscow, there was no effective response. No unit responded in time to stop Wagner from going into Moscow and seizing the Ministry of Defense building.

Prigozhin backed down when he got the deal he wanted. How good is Putin's word and how Prigozhin lives ares open questions.
