y Henri Astier BBC News, New Zealand On a bright Sunday morning the wildlife-lovers gather in Miramar, a scenic peninsula. They are on an exterminating mission.
Predator-Free Miramar aims to protect birds in this area of Wellington, New Zealand's capital, by ridding it of rats - every last one of them.
After donning hi-vis jackets, the volunteers are handed peanut butter - ideal bait for rodents - and poison.
Each is assigned a patch where they will check coil traps and toxin-laced bait boxes. "Good luck fellows," says Dan Coup, who leads the group.

No chance this will have some unintended consequences.
I WONDER IF THAT PIED PIPER DUDE IS LOOKING FOR A GIG...
NZ and Australia are famous for their tragic manipulation of animal populations. They can write the book Things Not To Do To Animals.
Skinner: Well, I was wrong. The lizards are a godsend.
Lisa: But isn't that a bit short-sighted? What happens when we're overrun by lizards?
Skinner: No problem. We simply release wave after wave of Chinese needle snakes. They'll wipe out the lizards.
Lisa: But aren't the snakes even worse?
Skinner: Yes, but we're prepared for that. We've lined up a fabulous type of gorilla that thrives on snake meat.
Lisa: But then we're stuck with gorillas!
Skinner: No, that's the beautiful part. When wintertime rolls around, the gorillas simply freeze to death.
Democrats better run
Good luck with this goal. Humans have tried to exterminate rats for since the beginning of agriculture. But I am sure they just weren’t trying.
I’m all for extermination of predators, if the focus was on the human groomers.
Well, Australia had a rabbit infestation now NZ has rats.
Maybe they could take a cue from KING RAT and sell it as Venison or maybe Baby Jane and just serve it straight on a platter.
Looked up Pest Off…
Active ingredient is Brodifacoum which is a anti coagulant that causes the targeted pest to bleed to death internally.
Problem is the anti coagulant stays in the target’s body and any mammal or bird that eats they dead pest will be poisoned as well.
Can they take care of our ‘rat infestation, next?
bttt
NZ can do it coz it is an island country basically and rats can’t swim across oceans. That was the reason Galapagos has many unique species coz it is an island.
That one Paragraph is funnier than the last 22 Seasons.
