Google has dropped its sponsorship of a San Francisco Pride event after hundreds of employees signed a fiery petition lashing out against it.
The tech giant sponsors a series of LGBT events across the US annually, and this year the headline event was due to be a 'Pride and Drag Show' at Beaux gay bar featuring popular performer Peaches Christ.
But employees noticed Google removed the San Francisco show from its internal events page after a petition was launched opposing the event on religious grounds, according to memos seen by CNBC.
Signed by a few hundred people, the petition claimed that Peaches Christ's performances routinely sexualize and disrespect Christian values - while accusing Google of religious discrimination for sponsoring the act.
Speaking about the 49-year-old drag queen, it read: 'Their provocative and inflammatory artistry is considered a direct affront to the religion, beliefs and sensitivities of Christians.'
The authors also demanded an apology from the organizers, saying they had complained to Google's HR department - People Operations - alleging the venue violated the company's event guidelines regarding sexually explicit activity.
Peaches Christ, who shot to fame on the California drag scene following the launch of their night movie series Midnight Mass in 1998, hit back at the petitioners, accusing them of promoting 'anti-queer and anti-gay rhetoric'.
Writing on Facebook, the drag queen said: 'This is another example of the really disturbing rise in anti-queer and anti-gay rhetoric that is using drag performers and trans people as scapegoats.
'Anyone who knows me and knows my career knows that I use this drag character and name to present love, to make people laugh, to create entertainment and to create space for outsiders.'

If really true, this is good news. Maybe they are now a silent partner? Is this a one-off or new direction for them?
Bravo if true, but it sounds suspicious as the majority of google workers are known to be extremely liberal.
I think people are beginning to pick up steam on openly opposing this. It takes a concerted effort and a lot of signatures to get their attention, but they’ve also seen what happened financially to some companies even though there was no single movement complaining.
Money talks.
Maybe more of their workers are like the rest of America. Just keeping quiet because we have been afraid of the alphabet kids. Now after what happened to Butt wipe they are no longer afraid and speaking up.
The tide is turning against the alphabet kids and everyone knows it, even the alphabet kids.

simply because - the deep-state simply can not have people with a conscience who won’t follow extreme ideological mandates.
I think more and more people are beginning to see it’s one thing not to discriminate against a person because they are gay, as opposed to mocking and denigrating the religious beliefs of a 2 billion people.

A few hundred employees is a pretty small number towards Google’s total number I think.
I was also thinking we should refer to these as a few hundred former employees as it’s likely they will suffer retribution
Im suspicious mainly because I’m seeing it from the long-winded and ad-filled and reset-prone Daily Mail.
Interesting that these deviates all seem to attack Christianity, like this one and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Is that what they are so proud about?!
