I did 5 mile daily runs during my non-Keto years. I had been VERY fat as a kid and I think that creates a different health challenge from folks who either never gain much fat or who don’t gain fat until later in life.
Also had a horse explode under me during a dismount that flung me like a booger and landed back first on a rock. 10 years later, that injury plagues me.
As you say, we are all different. If X doesn’t work for us, it might for someone else. If X doesn’t work for us, we can try Y or Z - until we find what DOES work!
a balanced diet is an apple pie with whip cream in one hand and a blueberry pie with whip cream in the other hand.
I eat what and how much I want and no one would call me over weight.
People don’t understand how true that last paragraph is. They try something, it doesn’t work for them, thry get frustrated and give up rather than try something different.
I hated swimming. I suck at it but it helps save my knees and works- for me
Who says a mostly plant based diet is healthy?
High fat isnt the issue, unless they are trans fats.
Its really a high carb diet which the body has to deal with quickly, by storing much of it as fat.
High carb diets are weight gain diets. Its why we feed cattle it to put weight on fast. Its not a surprise we are obese, we eat the cattle weight gain diet as our docs and scientists told us were healthy.
Trustthe science. Another failure.
Cows, deer, rabbits, hippos.
Stay away from pudding.
I never followed any diet. I am now age 83. Still same size suit as at age 25 when I got married. I eat any food I like. Apple pie alamode, BBQ pork ribs, rack of lamb with mint jelly and blackened large shrimp grilled with loaded potatoes are my favorite foods.
All because I do this 4-5 times every week for 25 minutes.

Do you drink coca-cola?
I’ve never ate a free range grass fed hormone free hippo before. My grocer/butcher just doesn’t stock it. I wouldn’t be opposed to it, mind you.
yes with sugar. but limit myself to one mug full per day.
I have not eliminated any item I LIKE from my diet.
Coke with sugar, Amaretto with half & half, icecream with caramel, krispy creme donuts are all included in my diet occasionally.
At age 83, I am disease free, never had heart attacks, strokes. OK, I never smoked or did drugs.
Yes!
Bkmk
Do you think isometric training would have a similar effect?
It is still a form of resistance exercise, just using your muscles.
“I’ve tried desperately to get my 80-year-old sister to work out.”
I had an aunt we called, “Aunt Church Lady” (not to her face) because she’s the twin to Dana Carvy’s SNL Character.
SO sanctimonious. Did her workout videos, walked every day, ate “right”, and kept a rigid schedule for all of that — and was mouthy about her own wonderfulness. She daily disparaged her older sister, my mom, because she did none of those things. It almost was to the point of verbal abuse. (Did I mention sanctimonious?)
She died of a stroke when she was 90, her mind sharp as a tack. Mom turns 99 next month, her mind also as sharp as a tack. They were one year apart in age. They led similar lives: Both were preachers’ wives, both had five children, both had a quirky sense of humor. Both were musicians.
The difference was ACL’s rigidness re health routine (did I mention SANCTIMONIOUS?), and Mom’s carefree, easy-come easy-go, outlook.
So many studies. So much scientific information. In many ways (not all) in the end, it seems like a crap shoot when it comes to health, life, and death. God’s will.
