..whixh is why I do not use any of those apps.
From what I hear, the driver’s get barely anything.
Cook your own food. Tastes better, fresher, cheaper. Easy to learn to cook.
Tip as much as you feel is deserved, but tip only on the base cost of the food, before any fees or taxes.
They aren’t providing a service other than delivering your food. Tipping on the bottom line is free money for them.
I have never used any of these food delivery programs and have no intentions of ever using one. We are generally pretty picky on what and where we go to eat. The last thing I would ever do is let some youngin that can’t figure out which bathroom to use, deliver me prepared food.
Maybe Grandpa Sniffy McBadfinger will go after those junk fees as well.
Not holding my breath...
Never use them. Don’t want some guy dragging his man tackle through my food and adding any extra salad dressing.
Typical idiocy - demanding higher wages yet expecting others to provide labor, ideas, and property for free. I’m pretty sure the people who use these services noticed that their Starbucks cost $16 to be delivered instead of $7 if they went through the drive through themselves.
So I went to the site to see what the price differential was, but entirely lost interest.
Did you guys know that Dennis Rodman got a face tattoo of his girlfriend Yella Yella?
I wish I wasn’t too lazy to post pictures.
If restaurant /delivery drivers make the minimum wage, then should the 15-20% tip come to an end? Or at least significantly reduced?
This seems to ge the case in other countries.
I used to be able to order from my local take-out places for a one or two-dollar delivery fee. Now, it’s astronomical, plus the tip.
I no longer do delivery at all.
Well this is not a secret. Price of doing business, dont like it, dont use them.
I found a sure-fire way to avoid those fees. You, too, can find it by drinking a cupful of my magic elixir every night before bed. Send me $19.95 and I’ll share my secret with you.
I only order when I’m desperate, too tired or sick to fix something for dinner. I know they rip us off, if they were decent they would get triple the business.
Just yesterday agents from GrubHub were holding me at gunpoint forcing me to order a hamburger for $20 plus tip.< /S>
The excerpt didn't give any indication of force or trickery. Did the rest of the article? Charging a fee for a service isn't a crime. If the customer doesn't like it then just don't order it. Personally, I've only ordered food for delivery when I have guests and no one wants to drive. When it's just me I always pick up so there's no delivery fee or tip. (And,no, I never tip for counter service unless it is a something like a twenty pizza order for work)
So getting food delivered is expensive. Huh.
Are so many people suffering from agoraphobia?
He’s a hint: look at the bottom line on the bill.
The only reason “junk fees” exist is because people whine about paying $10 for something, but are OK with paying $1 each for ten things. So they find 10 ways to “slice” the something, and there you go. I use the delivery apps, I know about the “junk fees” and don’t really care. I know that a 3rd party picking up something for me is going to cost me more than just doing it myself. Cause I understand capitalism, and everybody’s gotta get paid. Really if people wouldn’t be so whiny the services could be honest, and just straight up say “yup we’re adding 10% to the bill for our pocket”. But people gotta whine. So instead they pile on a bunch of little fees, to get to 10%, which one should be totally OK with if using a delivery service. Cause everybody’s gotta get paid.
It’s not only the “junk fees”. The price of the menu items are jacked up as well, compared to prices on the regular menu.
