Where will the gasoline/diesel/propane/natural come from to power them?

My generator requires natural gas which is delivered to my house via another “grid.”

For those with propane tanks, it also gets delivered via yet another grid (trucking).

My gennie’s running right now due to a power outage from thunderstorms. The small town where my ISP is has power which means my DSL is working. Other than that, the fridge is the only reason to run it. If that small town loses power for any length of time, I would have no reason to run it because the ISP would be down and they’d have no frozen/refrigerated food at the grocery store.

I suppose I could run the AC on hot days but I’d probably save the fuel for running power tools to build something necessary to sustain. ie, I should be cutting/welding on a frame today to build a high tunnel aka hoop house to extend the growing season.
