Right?
That would be a shame.

Looking forward to the absolute collapse, the total catastrophe, the unrecoverable disaster, etc.
The world is better off without them.
“There is Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson, and Chris Nolan…that’s about it.”
Tom Cruise? Hmm...I doubt it. But there’s a few more keeping their heads down below the commie radar.... no doubt for the sake of their families.
Here’s a list of right-leaning actors, some or many of which are dead, that you might find interesting. I have always loved Andy Garcia but didn’t know he was a rightie. Now I love him more.

How sweet that would be!
Some rabble-rousing would help insure they don’t agree on anything. /h
I’m saying for profits and quality flicks, not politics.
I should have clarified.
I think Diller is owned by the Chinamen regardless of surname.
China does have 4 times our population and slave labor…
On noes. If that happens who will make anti American/family crap? Bollywood?

Oh, ok. Gotcha. Can’t argue with the quality of his movies. He’s definitely one of Hollywood’s top stars. He supports the Democrats, but at least he doesn’t publicize that. He knows it would turn off or piss off the other half of his fanbase. Smart.

please....they’ll all live quite well off reruns.
Yeah, so?
Those evil “executives” are keeping all the profits. Clearly they need the government to take over the studios so they can be run more equitably.
I read that the timber industry declined 75% since 1990 in CA. As far as I know, the spotted owl remains mostly unspotted. Leaving all that fuel behind has resulted in a lot of out-of-control wildfires.
Maybe it’s time to bring the timber industry back to CA and Oregon. I would like to see scriptwriters and actors transition to lumberjacks. Lets give those people a chance to earn an honest living.
The exec’s and A list actors are all billionaires. They won’t notice. It is the support staff and support industries that will take in the shorts.
I would be honored to be the thought police for AI.
Oh wait, you meant report me.
Might as well. They have been out of ideas for years.

Another major disconnect, not surprisingly, from a Democrat (Obama supporter).
The better solution is to smash the Borg. Netflix, Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, Apple, Amazon, etc. are the cancer. There are plenty of other problems in the film industry. We all understand that. But the current concentration of power in the hands of a handful of global conglomerates that want to set themselves up as an information and entertainment cartel -- because they control the distribution platform with revenue based primarily on subscriptions rather than actual ticket sales -- is the problem that threatens the survival of everyone else.
This isn't a complete solution, but it's an important tool:
SAG-AFTRA Granting Waivers to Independent Filmmakers
If we want a movie ecosystem that allows independent and dissident voices a chance to be heard, we should be rooting for the indie fimmakers and the theaters, whose existence is now threatened by the supremacy of streaming.
If the streamers control the whole shebang, we will end up with six or fewer giant global conglomerates, all of them left-wing and woke, as the gatekeepers of what is produced and distributed. The rebels will still be able to shoot their films on I-phones and exhibit them in church basements or wherever else they can improvise a theater, but it will be the Borg vs. the samizdat underground. And the Borg, which controls broadcast and streaming news as well as film and tv, will be an action arm of the left. Aka Minitru.
The streamers have now swallowed most of the legacy studios. That's the core of the problem. Maybe a serious round of antitrust action is in order, with both vertical and horizontal integration being challenged.
Anyhow, I'm glad to see SAG-AFTRA opening up to the indies. That's a start. In the long run, it should be a strategic priority. At least support and expand an independent force in being as an alternative to the overwhelming streamer control over development and production.
In my hypothetical perfect world, the day after the strike was announced, SAG-AFTRA and the independent filmmakers would have announced that 150 independent films had been greenlit. Follow that with another 150 the week after that, and another 150 the week after that. Get the top actors and writers to commit to this. And then tell the Borg that it had better settle soon, or all the talent the Borg wants for its next round of bloated, expensive tentpoles will be tied up with the indies for the next three years. Many of the best actors, probably most of them, really do like to do quality work when they can. They take the big tentpole roles for the big paychecks, but many of them balance that with smaller roles on the side. That's a start. Think strategically.
