New York (CNN) — Consumers are snapping up air conditioners, ice makers, pool floats and other goods to help them cool down in response to a brutal heat wave in the United States.
On Amazon, sales of air conditioners increased 248% during the 30 days ending July 14, according to data from Jungle Scout, a data and analytics platform for Amazon sellers. Sales for fans grew 60%.
Searches on Amazon for “single room AC units” and “portable misting fans” also spiked triple digits during the period, according to Jungle Scout.
On Wednesday morning, a sun shade for car windshields was listed as the best-selling product on Amazon’s automotive page.
Lightweight and cooling bed sheets were the best sellers for Amazon’s home and kitchen department, and a hammock pool float topped the charts on Amazon’s toys and games page.
It’s the latest example of how climate change and extreme weather patterns have impacted consumer purchases.
Last month, sales of air purifier units increased by 96% compared to June of last year amid some of the worst air quality levels on record on the East Coast, according to data from Circana.
Canadian wildfires smothered large swaths of the United States. In the Northeast, where the wildfire smoke was worst, air purifier sales jumped 119% in June.

The cost of home energy bills this summer will increase by 11.7% to an average of $578, up from $517 last summer, according to the National Energy Assistance Directors Association."
Fixed!
The “climate change” of a typical hot July will soon be eclipsed by the “climate change” of a typical January, as Amazon shoppers flock to the site to stock up on mittens, scarves, and long underwear, in order to stay warm.
The sale of air conditioners ALWAYS goes up the first full month of summer.
Isn’t all of this a ‘creation-event’ like Christmas/Thanksgiving....to generate sales that wouldn’t normally ‘bounced’ like this?
Um, it's summertime. How many air conditioners do they expect to sell in January?

Better hurry, The Regime plans to end this ‘luxury’ VERY SOON.
It’s 84 here ...in NE OK....Normal stuff!!
I recently bought three small window air units at walmart for 150.00 each. I figure I can cool off a small room with one of them using solar if the grid ever goes down. and I have spares if I have a breakdown.
Enjoying a very pleasant summer here in mid-america, just need more rain and less smoke.
We have central air, but we have a few window units we’ll use the same way if necessary.
Adverb time at CNN.
I thought it was White Supremacy....
Sorry, as this is also about CCN and adverbs....
Quickly. Quickly. Quickly. Quickly. Quickly. Quickly. Quickly. Quickly.
“””I recently bought three small window air units at walmart for 150.00 each. I figure I can cool off a small room with one of them using solar if the grid ever goes down”””
That is the way I think, I don’t have solar so I have other solutions for summer and winter but your example shows how easy and calm being prepared is.
If a blackout descends on you in 110 degrees, you simply grab a book, turn on the classical station and enjoy normalcy.

These are great deals—only need to use them for three months of the year (CT) and they work great—then you take them down for the colder months.
> The cost of home energy bills this summer will increase by 11.7%
We replaced the 12 year old HVAC in January. Our peak utilization is at 70% of last year, and our monthly spend is 66% (we had a mild spring).
Might get another 20% better off the original if we upgrade the insulation and recoat the roof. Also we get enough sun here to shave the peaks substantially, but I’ve yet to do the math.
Meanwhile here in northern New England we may set a new record for RAIN in the month of July.
I am glad I live up on a hill 40’ above the brook across the street.
I mowed my lawn on Monday. It was over 6” high in places. I probably will mow it again tonight. It is supposed to rain again on Friday. This weekend may be the first Saturday & Sunday it will not rain this summer so far.
Which is exactly why places like walmart stock up on them. In the Fall, they stock freezers for hunting season. It's called seasonal and many stores even have aisles named seasonal.
Gawd I'm sick of the propaganda.
