“Is carry legal in Yellowstone?”

Yes. But you cannot fire it even in self defense:

Montana has constitutional concealed carry but a few towns/cities (like Bozeman) require a concealed carry permit.

It’s a pity about this lady...this happened in my county.

I live in Bozeman and that’s not correct. You can conceal carry here without a CHL. It’s federal buildings and certain other restricted locations that require a permit.

The article is false.

It is legal to fire a firearm in self defense in Yellowstone Park. What constitutes self defense may vary from state to state, but several cases of killing bears with firearms in National Parks have been held to be justified, as well as cases where "warning shots" were used. From nps.gov:

If a firearm is used in self-defense against a bear, contact park authorities immediately. Federal regulations prohibit the use or discharge of any weapon within a park area. The applicability of a state statute pertaining to self-defense in a wildlife encounter may vary state to state and by park area and will generally take into account any provoking or negligent actions by the person.

In my experience, the NPS likes to have a monopoly on guns in National Parks. They try to make self-defense in a park, with firearms, sound bad.
