Amongst the few I personally know that will argue for the hoaxed moon trips, it seems as though 1 in 6 do it just to mess with people. About half are true believers. And the rest are ‘skeptics’ - don’t see how we got to the moon (cue eyeroll from me), but figure there would have been deathbed confessions or other REAL evidence for the fakery to come out.

Thing is, if we faked it, why would Russia and China still be spending billions trying to get there? You would think they would not be taken in to that degree by some silly hoax that can be debunked by random Joe on the interwebz.
Thats the same thing that made me want to join the flat earthers some years back. There was a guy doing an interview about the club and there were a bunch of average people getting all indignant and yelling at this guy. He just kept smiling and pushing on with his story and it became obvious that this guy was a few points brighter than the average person in the room and was just trolling them for a laugh but could barely hold back.
