Not only that, it was Global Warming that caused HECO to spend only 1% of what they requested for power line right-of-way maintenance and fire abatement projects. The Global Warming kooks made HECO spend money on Global Warming crapola and ignore the real, live threat of power line caused fired.

Yep, is there nothing that global warming can’t do?

From the web:

In 2015, lawmakers passed legislation mandating that the state derive 100 percent of its electricity from renewable sources by 2045, the first such requirement in the U.S.

Hawaiian Electric revealed in 2017 that it would reach the goal five years ahead of schedule but that focus may have come at the cost of fire mitigation according to some experts.

**************

An article from July this year said that Hawaii had built a battery station for some solar panels or windfarm that cost $500 million. It would store enough electricity to power it’s customers for .....one hour! [Not sure if that one hour is accurate]

Elsewhere on the net:

Kapolei Energy Storage (KES) is ideally located on roughly eight acres of land in Kapolei on the island of Oahu, where it will interconnect at a critical Hawaiian Electric substation. The 185 MW / 565 MWh battery storage project will provide load shifting and fast-frequency response services to Hawaiian Electric, enhancing grid reliability and accelerating the integration of readily available renewable energy.

******************

It sounds like this battery project is not so much to supply power for long periods, but may just be a buffer as different energy sources are switched???
