This is for accurate up to the minute tracking information on Hurricane Idalia.
Right now, and I'm still trying to verify this, the latest tracking info has the storm rolling in over Cedar Key, Fl tonight and tomorrow.
Since I'm in Chiefland, 25 miles or so from Cedar Key, in a 5th wheel, I'm vitally interested in where this storm is actually headed.
In looking for info, I find stuff that references Monday, and even this past Sunday.
I understand that the track shifted West yesterday a little but can find nothing to confirm that.
My initial plan was to head north but that may change to Southeast dependent on the projected landfall area.
Any help is appreciated.
Here in NE Florida we are a long way from where the storm is right now, yesterday at Costco, all the water was already sold out, one man told his wife they needed 9 jars of peanut butter.
One of the many negative things all the people that have recently moved to Florida bring with them is an irrational fear of hurricanes, especially when they are nowhere near to their location and will likely be no more than a big rainstorm when it does come this way.
The news media doesn’t help the situation by going into 24/7 fear mongering, the schools in Duval County are closed today and tomorrow.

A 5th wheel is a large travel trailer.

If I were pulling a fifth-wheel trailer, I would go west north-west as the western side of the storm is less surge and wind. Get as far west of the landfall point as you can and of course away from the coast.
Does it float?
Go East, young man. And south.
Get down around Miami and be behind the storm track.
This storm has a lot of very hot water to cross and could become a cat 5 literally overnight like Camille in 1969.
Riding it out in a 5th Wheel is not a good plan.
I have been thru 5 hurricanes and several tropical storms.
You should get out now.
The roads will; become blocked with last minute stragglers and you will have nowhere to go.
Head for west Florida or Alabama...........................

And I understand the fear mongering. More fear, higher ratings.
I’m going to watch it until about 2 p.m. today then haul a*s.
The 5th wheel is fully insured for replacement value, I just need to load up the important stuff in the truck and get ready to go.

In 1985 We spent the night of Hurricane Elena in a roadside park in Alabama just across the Florida line in a pickup truck. The roads were jam packed. No hotels all the way to Birmingham. There were many people who had to stay in the cars on the sides of the roads...............
