Beekeepers to the Rescue After 5 Million Bees Fall Off Truck in Canada
BBC ^ | 8/30

Beekeeper Michael Barber woke up on Wednesday morning to several calls from police looking for help after five million bees fell off a truck in Canada.

The hives were being transported when the straps holding them in place came loose, allowing them to slip free.

Mr Barber said he arrived to "a pretty crazy cloud of bees" who were "very angry, confused and homeless".

Drivers were told to keep their windows up and pedestrians to stay away.

The scene in Burlington, Ontario was unlike anything Mr Barber has experienced in his 11-year career.

"It was something else," he told the BBC. "I hope to never experience it again."

They fell off the wagon? That must have been quite a party.

Well, that’s a stinging rebuke for the driver.

"always securely strap your bees"

Guess bees can get as kinky as the next insect.

Yeah, that’s always a mess.

I was at a bee yard once with around a 100 nucs and hives that were knocked down during a storm, All those bees trying to get back home, a giant cloud of bees and our suits were covered with bees. I had to keep wiping the bees off my veil and smoke seems to do nothing. And the sound of a couple million bees, so loud is deafening, even that night and the next day, all I could hear was the buzzing.

Black bear got two of my hives last fall one was doa, the other amazingly survived the winter. Even 1/2 way through this summer, they were just nasty! Bees remember!

I have no bears but bees do remember me and will tag me the next day when I am nowhere near the hive.

Summer has been tough. I have not had an under 100 degree day in at least two months. I can only suite up for a short period of time and do a quick inspection.

No nectar out there and little pollen. They get agitated when I crack a hive open.

OH, 5 Million Honeybees, not 5 Million B*tchy B’s.

Besides, article said nothing about finding The Queen.
I thought a few Queens would be needed to attract their Drones and their Workers. Guess not.

I thought “fell off a truck” was only a line about how some New Jersey families got new furniture???
