The Cuban government has exposed a Russian trafficking operation used to lure Cubans into the war against Ukraine, Cuban authorities announced Monday.
“The Ministry of the Interior has detected and is working to neutralize and dismantle a human trafficking network operating from Russia to incorporate Cuban citizens living there, and even some from Cuba, into the military forces participating in war operations in Ukraine,” the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Monday.
The authorities are taking legal actions against the traffickers, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez said on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.

Well, that’s interesting. I thought Russia and Cuba were good buddies.
I guess some Russian diplomat missed a payment to some Cuban official.

I am not sure what you believe has changed. All Russian men between the ages of 18 and 30 are already required to have served a year in the military with a number of exclusions. It has been that way since 1917 when the commies took over.

IIRC, the upper age used to be lower.
Also, conscripts are NOT SUPPOSED to be shipped outside of Russia.
But mistakes happen and Russia claims most of Ukraine as Russian territory...
And for some reason, most conscripts come from outside of the Moscow-St Petersberg area.
But-but-but......Putin already has an unlimited manpower pool, according to some the ultracrepidarians who post on FR.
Things are going so well for Russia that they have to recruit cannon fodder from Cuba...and it looks like Cuba isn’t happy about it!

Or Aliens from Outer Space.
I expect more of this as Biden starts to loose support from his Base.
I don’t expect Biden’s Base to flip.
I just think they are worried about voters staying home.
Cuba and Russia are good buddies. And Cuba is good buddies with Iran, which is also a good buddy with Russia. And Cuba is good buddies with China, which at the moment is also buddy buddy with Russia so long as it hurts the US.
The simple fact is, no one leaves Cuba on anything other than an innertube without the express permission of the Cuban government.
If Cubans show up fighting in Ukraine, it is because the Cuban government sent them there.
And, Cuba is very good buddies with the American left.
I used to think of Canada as America’s designated driver.
No matter how insane America became, we could always
count of good old Canada to make sure that we got home safely.

The good Cubans started fleeing from Cuba to America, shortly after the Cuban missile crisis was over.
