EL MONTE, Calif. -- Employees at an El Monte, California jewelry store punched, kicked and used a stick to fight back and chase off a suspected thief.
El Monte police say the attempted robbery happened Saturday around 2:12 p.m. at Meza's Jewelry on Main Street.
Video posted on social media, which is now part of a police investigation, shows employees fighting back against the suspect before he gets away.
The incident began when a man came in armed with a hammer and smashed a display case, according to employees. Police say he used pepper spray on the workers, who are family members.
The tables were turned when the family decided to take matters into their own hands.

Fight back because the police are not going to do anything but take a report. I saw one jeweler who placed revolvers behind the display cases at 5 foot intervals. He had to put them to use one day when he shot and killed at least two would be thieves.
$10 says they will be charged with Assault and probably a Hate Crime too.

Given this happened in California, perhaps a charge of excessive force will apply. After all, the employees could have nicely asked the man to leave, then patiently waited for a reply. But, no. They went hands-on almost immediately.
Notice also that at the beginning of the video, the guy bear-sprayed the man sitting out front. I’m guessing that was because the man had said something mean and/or racist.

I have seen that video several times now. It gives me a warm feeling all over every time. This and the one with the Sikhs taking care of business are really good examples to storekeepers everywhere. I ust hope they pay attention and do likewise. So a clerk or two go to jail for assaulting a Protected Person. So if I were the clerk It would be worth it. Even in Chicago getting arrested for that kind of store defense most likely won’t fly with a jury. Just don’t plead out.
The classic example of that was in Richmond VA a few years ago. Ê men rushed into a jewelry store. One jumped up on a counter and fired into the ceiling. Three pretrained clerks pulled the preplaced pistols and took out all three in a couple of seconds. The raiders were an actual robbery gang that had repeated that sort of raid a few times previously and some jewelry stores prepared for when it was their turn. It only takes one such store getting hit to end a gang’s progress.
If he had shot three or four of them the attack would have stopped immediately and the whole riot would have melted away like when the Rittenhouse kid shot the three antifas who were chasing him down with a lethal skateboard and a pistol. Rioit over. Antifas don’t want to engage in armed battles unless they have a monopoly on the arms.

Having seen more than one of these fighting shopkeeper videos, gotta say that these Asian guys need some serious schooling on how to swing a stick. Those strikes wouldn’t break a spider web. And cut the stick down to 36 inches, not some five foot broom handle.
