Rick Perry’s energy legacy is more complicated than you think
Texas Tribune ^ | 12/13/16 | Jim Malewitz and Kiah Collier

Although Texas' longest-serving governor was, perhaps unsurprisingly, pro-oil and gas during his tenure, he didn't simply nod to those iconic, staple fuels: “You can be proud that Texas produces more energy from wind turbines than all but five countries,” he said.

Maybe Texas should build nuke plants, to power giant fans to keep the wind mills going, especially as Texas is facing rolling blackouts.

Perry was governor, and didn’t bitch, when TXU CANCELLED a dozen large coal plants.

We paid for that IDIOCY in the winter of 2021.

You simply cannot power modern civilization as we know it with wind and solar. Doing so is a pipe dream.

They neither value nor aspire to modern civilization; this explains quite a lot.

Proud my ass. I am ASHAMED that we cowed to the climate nazis when Texas has ample supplies of cheap oil and gas, readily available coal, and the technology to burn it cleanly.

Unreliable wind and solar hold our population hostage to the idiocy of the globalist climate agenda.

GFY Perry. Globalist a-hole.

Probably not saying much, Goodhair.

They canceled those plants because the EPA set the air standards so high, there was no existing technology available to achieve them. The EPA made it impossible for new ones to be built or old ones to be brought back online.

Don’t blame Perry for that.

“Don’t blame Perry for that.”

I don’t remember Perry having an issue with the plants being canceled, therefore I will blame him for not STEPPING UP and fighting the feds.

Incorrect.

Perry’s team launched multiple lawsuits (48 in total) against the Obama Regime.

You are still angry at the wrong person.

“Perry’s team launched multiple lawsuits (48 in total) against the Obama Regime.”

Which one was to get the coal plants built?

Didn’t think so, he had his windmills instead.

Aaaand you would be wrong again.

He did sue the EPA over the Clean Air Act.

Please read up a little before maligning Perry further. He was a good governor who fought on multiple fronts.

ERCOT issued a Level 2 Energy Emergency Alert on Wednesday night because.....wait for it....the wind wasn’t blowing enough.

Texas has a Right to Choose electricity program where you get to pick your electricity provider. Some claim to be so much “green energy”. I wish the rolling blackouts would be targeted to those virtuous souls. Let them save Mother Erf.

No evidence of that regarding the coal plants.

Now you are embarrassing yourself.

Seriously, dude, I said read first.

The Clean Air Act was used to shut the plants down, which is why Texas sued.

But you keep banging that drum. Anyone else that does a quick internet search will know you are misinformed.
