The Ukrainian counteroffensive against the Russian invasion continues decisively on all front lines. Today we are facing simultaneous offensive operations, explosions and fires in Zaporizhia, Tokmak, Melitopol, Kherson and Crimea in the south, Donbass in the east and Kharkiv in the north. Today the front lines are complex. The break of the long silence on the Crimean peninsula, one of the most strategic centers of the war, and the fierce continuation of the Ukrainian offensive in the south, testify to the real activity on the front lines.
The Ukrainians last moved to reach the railroad from Volnovakha to Tokmak. After leaving and crossing the railroad, Ukrainian troops will be able to reach the Berdiansk-Tokmak road. The next stop will be the Rostov-Melitopol line. Kiev has about 20 kilometers left to fully seize the initiative of these connecting corridors. Already, Ukrainian troops continue to receive support from Zaporizhia.
In Dnipro, the Russians are having difficulties in mobilizing patrol boats and assault boats for reconnaissance and surveillance operations. In Kherson, the dispersal of Ukrainian troops is among the threats to Crimea from Russia’s point of view. In fact, all these preparatory plans in the south are aimed at the Ukrainians targeting Crimea in order to force Russian leader Vladimr Putin to the negotiating table. That is why the peninsula is constantly under attack by the Ukrainian army. However, it has been almost a week since we have witnessed a very loud offensive in Crimea.
This silence on the peninsula was again broken by violent explosions. According to Serhiy Bratchuk, head of the Public Council of the Military Administration of Odesa Oblast, the Staryy Krym area in the southeastern part of the Russian-occupied Crimean Peninsula was shaken by four powerful explosions. In addition to the explosions near this area, there was a huge fire on the Crimean peninsula, visible to Russian tourists in Feodosia.
In other words, the explosions in Stary Krym spread to Feodosia, which is just east of this region. Feodosia is located on the Black Sea coast. This settlement is also close to Kerch. Staryy Krym, on the other hand, is located to the east of Simferpol. There is a Russian military base near Simferpol. After the explosions, a huge fire broke out in the area of this military base. Soon, huge black smoke billowed from the Russian military facility in Simferopol. Another huge explosion was heard before a fire broke out at the oil storage facility at the base in the capital of the occupied territory. Pro-Russian sources claimed that the fire was caused by technical malfunctions. However, the size of the fire after the explosion indicated that it was caused by an attack.
On the other hand, the Ukrainian Telegram channel Crimean Wind confirmed that the military base in the area where fuel tanks were stored in Simferpol was hit. In their statement, the Telegram channel advised residents of nearby houses to stay away from it. As the Telegram channel Crimean Wind emphasized, everything had indeed changed in Crimea in a short period of time. On the same day, after Simferopol, Stary Krym and Feodosia, the northern part of Crimea also began to stir. According to local Telegram channels, the air defense system was activated in the Dzhankoy district of Crimea. According to local residents, the air defense system was also activated in the village of Kovylne in Rozdolne district of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. Violent explosions allegedly occurred in these settlements as well.
The so-called president of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, stated that a Ukrainian UAV was shot down by Russian air defense forces in the northwestern region of Crimea. So all the explosions had led to a complete blockade of the southwest, southeast and north of Crimea. Today’s attacks and explosions, if confirmed to have been carried out by Ukraine, would be the latest in a long series of attacks on Russia and the Russian-occupied terror in the last few weeks. But Kiev rarely accepts responsibility for attacks against Russia. In recent months, explosions have been increasing in Crimea. They sometimes involve attacks on the Russian fleet, missile strikes or drone attacks on the peninsula or the Crimean Bridge. The common goal is to end the Russian presence in Crimea. But this is not as easy as it sounds.

The Save Ukraine foundation has brought back another 13 children from the occupied territories of Kherson,
Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

DETAILS: This is the 11th rescue mission tgat aimed to bring back children to Ukraine from Russia and the temporarily occupied territories. In the course of those missions, 176 children were returned to Ukraine. The organisation told the press the stories of these children.

And it was him who forbade the mother from taking the children from the Russia-controlled territory. There, during the occupation, children were forced to go to a Russian school, and their mother was threatened with deprivation of her parental rights.”

Various tank operators and crew discuss how much they prefer using the more advanced Leopard tanks over older Soviet style tanks that are smaller, slower and not fitted with night vision equipment. The 47th Mechanised Brigade was first involved with the counter offensive in Robotyne using the Leopard tanks to help troops advance and recapture territory.

A report for the day.
First, the law on electronic declaration. As soon as the law was received from the Verkhovna Rada this morning, I signed a veto.
I expect a new vote - one with a positive outcome regarding the immediate opening of the register of declarations. This decision should be made already in September.
The same is true for the draft law on PEPs – politically exposed persons.
And this is a matter not only of the political responsibility of the parliament, but also of our negotiations with the European Union on accession.
A new historic step between Ukraine and the EU should take place this year, and all branches of government in Ukraine should work to make it happen.
Before all other meetings, I held a Military Cabinet meeting today. A special circle of participants.
We only discussed the situation at the front and our expectations for the near future. Strengthening of our brigades, our own production of weapons and ammunition in Ukraine and supplies from our partners. Important intelligence reports. We can clearly see what the occupiers are really preparing for and what our warriors should be ready for.
Today, Denmark has made a significant decision - the largest defense package for the entire period of a full-scale war and already the twelfth. This new package is worth more than $800 million. In terms of content, it is exactly what we agreed on with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and her government team. A good reinforcement, thank you for it!
Today, I had a very productive conversation with students from Dutch universities. It was a broad format - several universities. The questions were quite political. There was really good attention to Ukraine, to our struggle for freedom. And there is a great hope that we will return peace to our entire land, to all our people, without exception. I am grateful to the Netherlands - to the society, to the political community, and to you, Mark, Mr. Prime Minister, personally, for such sincere support of Ukraine and for your faith in Ukraine and our people.
And, of course, our warriors.
Today, we have a lot to thank all the warriors of our 95th air assault brigade for. The 3rd assault brigade - well done, guys! “Fury” joint assault brigade of the National Police - thank you! All three brigades distinguished themselves in the battles in the Bakhmut sector. Those were important successful actions.
The 46th separate airmobile brigade and the 47th separate mechanized brigade - thank you, warriors, for your advancement! The 72nd separate mechanized brigade and the 79th separate air assault brigade - thank you for the extremely strong defense of our positions!
Today I would like to particularly mention the MID’s special units that are performing tasks in the area of Klishchiivka and other extremely hot spots. Thank you, guys!

Dear students!
I would like to dedicate this address primarily to you - those who are still very young and starting their academic year. But in a very short time - and believe me, you won’t even notice how quickly this time will pass - you yourself may be addressing others who are starting their academic year... Perhaps these will be the words that you, as parents, may say to your children. Perhaps you will be working at a university, teaching the disciplines you are currently studying, and then you will greet new students who have come to you for the first time. And you may become leaders in politics, business or civic activism who are invited to address students at such solemn moments... This is your life, and what it will be like, what will become your destiny over time, and what you will be able to say to others depends only on you and no one else.
In today’s world, there is definitely no shortage of advice, let alone motivational speeches. People are telling you how to live and what to do or not to do everywhere. Even when it is absolutely inappropriate. And I’m sure all of you have heard many times what you should do to make sure you will succeed in someone else’s opinion. And sometimes this is even the right advice. Sometimes you really need to listen to others... But still, if you don’t understand what path you are on and what your own boundaries of right and wrong are, everything you have can simply drown in the flow of life – dissolve in time. And it is very frightening when people look back at their lives and do not see their own lives... they see something else instead.
This is exactly the same for countries. Just like for people. Every country needs the ability to say “yes” or “no”. Just like a person. No matter what the situation is and no matter what others offer, you need to know the boundaries of your “yes” and “no”, your own interest. Every country needs to know what it is worth, what exactly belongs to it in this world. Just like every individual. Because if you don’t understand what is yours, you won’t be able to defend your choice. Each country has its own level of freedom – some have more, some have less. Someone inherited it. Someone fights for freedom... But whatever the country, freedom is never a gift. It always needs to be protected. It always needs to be appreciated, it’s always necessary to realize what gives freedom its strength, and it’s necessary to constantly increase guarantees for freedom. So that there is no moment when the country loses its freedom. And it is the same with every person – you need to understand what gives you the power to be free, so that you can always be free.
And we must always – always! – be able to find reasons for unity. All countries. And all people. The modern world is overly divisive. It happens every moment... When your social networks create an informational and, even more importantly, emotional picture of life tailored to you... When your social circle gradually grows into a social bubble in which you hardly feel how others live in other bubbles... And when your work, your habits, your place in life become not just something that distinguishes you from others, but something that completely closes you off from other lives. This is the case with people. But isn’t it the same with countries?
The world lacks unity... It lacks the ability to feel the other and make the other your ally. It lacks the ability to put ambitions at the service of common values. Now the world is going through a special stage, when it is being decided not only whether we alone, somewhere in Eastern Europe, will preserve freedom... Now it is being determined whether it will be possible to make genocidal policy part of the allegedly normal world politics. This is exactly what Russia is trying to do with its war against us... To make genocide a background against which others can live in peace somewhere in their “bubbles”... To freeze the war and turn death from a shocking picture of battles into the almost imperceptible reality of daily repression in the occupied territory. Is the world united against this? Not all of it.
Not yet. But we are trying! This is one of the main things we are doing. Ukraine is looking for reasons for unity with different countries. Even with those that we have had almost no relations with for decades. We are building new ties. We are building new partnerships. The Netherlands, in particular, is helping us with this - your leadership, your participation helps us unite the world for the sake of our common values. And this makes our defense stronger, our freedom stronger. Would we be able to communicate like this today, on the five hundred and sixty-sixth day of a brutal full-scale war, if Ukraine did not work for unity?
I sincerely wish you to see your own path. I wish you to be able to always say “yes” or “no” as it corresponds to your sense of life, your interests, your nature. But at the same time, please do not turn what is yours into a wall that closes others off you. Look for unity. Look for friends, partners, like-minded people. It doesn’t matter what country they are from... the Netherlands or Ukraine... it doesn’t matter if their name is Mark or Volodymyr... The main thing is your common result. Work together with others. Unite for the sake of freedom. For the sake of common achievements that may even become historical. Overcome the things that divide you so that in any crisis situation you will always have an ally by your side. When this is your skill on a personal level, it will invariably become your special strength on a community and national level.
Dear students!
Today, the Netherlands is among the global leaders in the defense of freedom and human life. Thanks to the generations you came to learn from. And I wish that when the next generation comes to learn from you, some foreign leaders will be able to thank your country in the same way... for jointly defending freedom, for supporting human life, and for giving every person and every country this fundamental choice in life - to say “yes” or “no” when it concerns the path to the future. One’s own future. The real one. The one we are fighting for for Ukraine right now. And we will definitely prevail!

A Su-24 Russian military aircraft has crashed in Russia’s Volgograd Oblast. So far it is unknown whether the two crew members are alive.

According to preliminary reports, there were two crew members on board but it is unknown whether they survived. Rescuers headed for the site of the crash.
It was presumably a training flight, there was no ammunition on board. Officially the Russian authorities have not commented on the crash yet.

I am Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video I will tell you what happened on the five hundred sixty sixth day of the war.
Day 566: Sep 12
Today, the biggest news comes from the Tokmak direction.
After Ukrainian tank crews conducted an extensive series of raids on the Russian positions in front of Novoprokopivka, Ukrainians set perfect conditions for infantry attacks. Recently released footage shows how Ukrainian fighters are entering the tree line and clearing positions.
The tree line was still burning, which means that the infantry assault was either conducted immediately after a tank raid or after an intense artillery preparation. Such conditions are not rare because there is a lot of Russian ammunition and mines in the tree lines, some of which detonate during the strikes. Ukrainian fighters said that with the increased use of cluster shells, destroying enemy ammunition and causing fires in the tree lines became very easy.
On top of leaving the enemy with less ammunition, the burning ground helps Ukrainian assault units to identify scattered mines more easily. As you can see, the density of mines is insane, and de-mining equipment would not withstand so many explosions in one go. However, what Ukrainians found out is that when they attack through the burned field, the drivers of vehicles can just move around the mines because they can clearly see them. The mine clearing equipment, therefore, works as insurance in case some mines cannot be avoided.
So, the use of cluster shells significantly improved the efficiency of infantry assaults not only by destroying ammunition but also by allowing Ukrainian assault units to get to the positions safely and also much faster because Ukrainians can use armored cars with light demining equipment instead of T-64 tanks. After the positions are taken, Ukrainians are de-mining the tree lines and the area around them. Ukrainians also recently created an improvised de-mining device with a remote control that specializes in de-mining light but tricky-to-find anti-personnel mines. All of that helped Ukrainians to deepen the bridgehead substantially.
Today, Russian sources reported that Ukrainians are already virtually on the outskirts of Novoprokopivka. After clearing all the fields and tree lines, now there is only one field that separates Ukrainians from entering the village itself. Recently released footage by Russian soldiers confirms that those units that are operating north of Novoprokopivka are retreating.
The retreating soldiers pass the destroyed Russian equipment and personnel right behind their positions. The destroyed units were likely a reinforcement that never got to the contact line due to the Ukrainian artillery and drone fire. In fact, less than 1 minute in, the retreating Russian soldiers were detected by a Ukrainian drone and suffered from artillery fire. The Russians tried to run, but their fate is unknown.
As the Ukrainian command saw that Ukrainians were gaining momentum and the bridgehead – and, therefore, the area of operation – was increasing, the assault units were reinforced. Russian sources confirmed that the front line shifted even more south and reported that Ukrainians moved in additional elements from the 71st Jagger Brigade toward Robotyne and elements from the Ukrainian Special Forces toward Verbove to ramp up the offensive operation.
In order to undermine Ukrainian plans and not allow fresh forces to reinforce the units on the contact line, Russian forces conducted a massive flank attack. The main area where Russian delivered the hit was right between Novopokrovka and Verbove, and those fresh forces reportedly had to engage with Russians not where they expected. Russian sources reported that the goal was achieved, and the fresh Ukrainian troops were fixed and now are stuck defending the eastern flank instead of storming the southern line.
Unfortunately for Russians, it seems like Ukrainians breached the Russian defense in the south anyway. Recently released geolocated footage shows how Russian artillery is shelling Ukrainian troops inside the newly captured Russian trenches right behind the passed dragon teeth. As you can see, the situation remains difficult, but Ukrainian fighters are consistently getting closer to Tokmak. In the meantime, in anticipation of the liberation of their land, Ukrainians who are living in the villages near Tokmak were seen launching a Ukrainian flag in the sky towards Ukrainian forces on the southern contact line.

From Suchomimus. His channel is very good for bomb damage assessment (BDA), he posts and comments on a lot of satellite imagery.
Looks like large explosions in the drydock at Sebastopol harbor. Satellite view pre attack shows a Ropucha class amphibious ship and a Kilo submarine were in there at the time. These seem rather large for drones, maybe they are Neptune missiles, who knows. TBD. More satellite images will tell the tale.
