ABC is the place to be for NFL football!
The network announced Monday that it will simulcast ESPN's coverage of "Monday Night Football" games all season long.
This means 10 additional games will be added to ABC's fall lineup. The network previously announced exclusive telecasts of MN matchups for Sept. 18, Sept. 25, Dec. 11 and Dec. 25 as well as ESPN simulcasts for games on Nov. 20, Dec. 30, Jan. 6, the Super Wild Card Game and the Divisional Playoff Game. Scroll down for the full schedule. Monday Night Football double-header
Closing out Week 2, Monday Night Football will feature two games on separate networks with staggered kickoff times. New Orleans at Carolina kicks off at 7:15 p.m. on ESPN, and Cleveland at Pittsburgh begins at 8:15 p.m. on ABC.
For fans concerned about missing any action while the games overlap, both broadcasters will keep viewers in the loop with what is happening on the other network.
Beginning at 8:15 p.m. ET, the broadcasts will periodically activate double-box views and alternate score boxes, as well as provide halftime updates of the other matchup.
I never understood why the transferred Monday Night Football to ESPN, when it was on ABC it was always the highest ranked program each seek.
Disney is desperate at this point
Cut cable awhile back so no woke NFL for this household.
I guess trying to force more paid subscriptions...ABC airings allowed people to watch with an antenna.
In many places ABC can be had with a digital antenna for free.
Oh good. Even more people can watch the Steelers stink again tonight.
Most NFL was still is on NBC, FOX, and CBS...now back in ABC. No cable was necessary for most of it.
The Saints are playing the Panthers tonight. Go Saints!
After the NFL allowed players and coaches to insult veterans, I no longer watch at all. Same for MLB. I was never much of a fan for the NBA.
When the bowed to Globohomo they lost me. Forever.
Yes, but the Steelers/Browns game is on ABC. Saints/Panthers on ESPN. Mainly at the same time. One starts slightly earlier.
I noticed Notre Dame moved some of their games to Peacock.
There was a 2 fold thing. First scheduling sports on broadcast, especially partly in prime time which the network “owns” is a challenge. With games starting at 8 eastern and ending at 8:30ish pacific you’ve got a schedule problem, what is ABC supposed to do for the last hour of “prime time” in the west but not in the east? Then you’ve got the problem that it’s only half the standard TV season, so you’ll put mid season “replacements” on Monday in January, but anything that actually succeeds has to be moved to a different night in September. It’s all handleable but, less than ideal, especially when you add in part 2.
The Mouse felt like they were competing with themselves. With multiple sports channels already splitting the audience having sports on ABC just made it worse. Especially with MNF having the biggest sports audience in the country, ESPN ratings were being crushed by their own network. So they got ABC out of the sports business. They killed Wide World, and some other stuff.
Of course now the strikes have the well running dry. So hurray simulcast.
Duck Fisney.
I’ll watch if Howard Cosell is the announcer.
Trying to get reported revenues up so they can be used to up then price of ABC when they sell it.
I quit watching PRO Football many years ago.......
ESPN is bleeding billions each year. Disney is losing in just about everything they own. People don’t have any loyalty to ESPN, Disney or ABC. They are just a big clump of woke. There will be a major rearrangement in news, sports and entertainment in the next several years.
