The Marine Corps IG comment is interesting. First I’ve heard of a ‘network’ embedded in the military since some vague references to ‘the sisterhood’ in the early 1990s. Senior commissioned officers at the Pentagon who favorably directed promotions of their affinity group and punished enemies.

Do you have kids and what did you tell them about joining the military today? I’ve got 10 years before I have to worry.

I do have kids and they are nearing military age. I have steadily warned them that today's armed forces have been infested with traitors and idiots who insist that "anybody can join today's military" and there "can't be any harm in active gays serving in leadership positions or young women serving in direct combat".

After 27 years in the Marines, I can assure them that that is a recipe for disaster but today's leaders don't care.
