A Connecticut couple was charged with disorderly conduct after berating a pair of Puerto Rican landscapers and accusing the brothers of being in the US illegally.
The ugly caught-on-camera confrontation began when Robert Shaw, 62, and Sharon Bourgeois-Williams, 58, verbally attacked the landscapers who were working on a nearby home in Middletown, Connecticut.

OK, maybe that was out of line - but legal charges? And of course, if the landscapers were illegal, they would most likely face no legal charges at all.

I noticed that the question was never answered. Were they here illegally or not? The fact that it wasn’t noted probably indicates that they were indeed illegal!

Puerto Ricans are from a commonwealth of the US and can travel freely in the 50 states. They don’t have to sneak in unless they’ve lost their personal documents.

Well, were they? Puerto Ricans, whether born in PR or the CONUS, are US citizens. They are no more illegal aliens than you and I.

Puerto Ricans have dual citizenship and vote in presidential elections, just like people from Guam and several other island territories. The Philippines used to be one but chose to be independent.

I’ma racist because, when I have folks come over to work on my house, I demand upfront that at least one of them speak fluent English.
I talk to that individual before the work starts. They’d better be fluent, or work doesn’t start.
