$500m Alzheimer's drug scandal: NY scientist behind NIH-funded therapy busted for allegedly manipulating data in 20 research papers - now there are calls for trials to be cut off

Scientists are calling for stage 3 clinical trials of an Alzheimer's drug to be scrapped after a report highlighted serious doubts about the legitimacy of research that helped the medicine reach that stage.

A long-awaited report by the City University of New York (CUNY) accused one of its faculty members, neuroscientist Hoau-Yan Wang, of egregious misconduct concerning 20 research papers — defined as workplace behavior so outrageous, dangerous, or illegal that an employer cannot reasonably expect to correct it through progressive discipline.

According to the 50-page document obtained by Science, Mr Wang could not provide original data to disprove allegations he had manipulated images in his research papers, many of which provided critical support for the Alzheimer's drug simufilam's jump from the lab into clinical studies.

CUNY biochemist Kevin Gardner told Science the report's findings were 'embarrassing beyond words,' while Vanderbilt University neuroscientist Matthew Schrag said the ongoing trial should 'certainly be shut down.'

The allegations were prompted by initial doubts over the doctored images raised by two scientists in August 2021.

Mr Wang is a long-standing collaborator with biotech company Cassava Sciences, whose work on the experimental Alzheimer's drug simufilam has been heavily criticized.

Simufilam is a drug in tablet form that claims to prevent the buildup of amyloid proteins in the brain that are a hallmark sign of Alzheimer's disease.

Along with Wang, Cassava's senior vice president for neuroscience Lindsay Burns is also being deemed at fault. Burns is a co-author alongside Wang on some of the papers in question.

The CUNY investigative committee found numerous signs images in Wang's research papers were used multiple times, cut and pasted, and altered, 'thereby presenting falsified or fabricated biochemical data.'

One of the papers in question was a 2012 paper published in The Journal of Neuroscience, with both...

just wait until they get around to checking the “climate science” talk about “manipulating data”. When that is finally exposed it will be the biggest scandal in history.

The punishment will probably not even approach the damage that was done, as is usually the case these days.

“When that is finally exposed it will be the biggest scandal in history.”

The Climate Data Falsification Scandal occurred in 2008 at the University of East Anglia in England. Nothing happened. The juggernaut keeps merrily rolling along making lots of people rich.

The amount of fraud in drug creation and manufacturing is massive... And always has been. Everybody wants and typically needs a cure-all at some point... So it’s so easy to sucker people into buying them.

Take Covid and Flu vaccines... Do they or did they really save anybody? Millions die every year worldwide from flu’s... And 7 or 8 million have died from Covid since 2020... Despite vaccines being available and massive amounts of people being vaccinated.

Is there any reason to think that a cure for Alzheimer’s or any other disease wouldn’t be subject to the same sort of fraudulent shysters?

If there’s a ailment, there’s a cure to what ails you and there’s a snake oil salesman who has it and will sell it to you for a price.

A former doctor of mine admitted that drug companies pay for and then totally suppress all the clinical studies that show dangerous effects of drugs and how the drugs are ineffective.
Then advertise the winning one even if the only one.

I appreciate that as one of at least two times someone has been honest and truthful with me in my 77 years (other was a woman at work who revealed how the bosses above her were cheating me).

But those cheating Big Pharma monsters are killing people.
And their Fauci style supporters who get rich on us.

I have verifiable proof via a Mayo Clinic test that MRI contrast does not always leave your body like they try to claim. And yet, despite a test from Mayo Clinic saying 4 months later it was being excreted from my body I still had doctors telling me that even if the blood test is correct that there is no proof that it could cause me any problems.
Yeah, sure..a heavy toxic metal circulating in my body couldn’t possibly be the cause of my problems that started immediately the day I was injected with it.

Was thinking about that too, Michael Mann should be getting out of prison about now in a just world. Coincidently the article posted immediately above this one also features a ‘Mann’ as a last name and got me thinking for second. We spent the day getting ready for the nasty winter that is about to come in the upper Midwest in spite of the planet burning up.

That’s scary. For all of us who’ve had the test.

The episode of NYPB Blue where Det. Sipowicz (Dennis Franz) had a serious reaction to the dye (which also damages kidneys and is not recommended for low kidney function patients) and almost died was vivid.

I saw that, too, and that’s exactly what triggered the East Anglia memory.

Indeed, Michael Mann should be getting out of prison about now in a just world.

Joe Rogan says he is never going to a regular Doctor again.

That is pretty much how I feel about it. I go to get blood tests and imaging tests ordered but for diagnosis...forget it...

I have so many unusual blood test results that Doctors dont know jack about and dont even try to understand why they are showing up that way when my “typical” blood tests are coming back at my baseline. Nothing could possibly be wrong because your liver tests, Metabolic Panel and CBC are at your baseline. UMMMM. yeah...sure...

For example, Every pyruvate test that I get done is jacked up but nobody knows what to do with it. G6pd jacked up but who cares. We only care if you are deficient...etc.. GDF-15 sky high but who cares. We don’t know anything about that test.

I clearly have some kind of mitochondrial dysfunction going on..

I look for studies on mice. See what they do on them. And then experiment on myself. I wish I had done this decades ago. There are three supplements related to my genetic factors that have changed my life.

Screw the local Doctors who don’t bother to find out what it means when tests are abnormal just because they don’t typically order the tests.

The wife of Chuck Norris had a problem with MRI contrast but no one really believed her problems were related to the contrast.

If any of her family happen upon this thread because it comes up in the search engine I will say to you that you should do a whole genome test. See if you have a problem in the MDR1 gene. Gadolinium is predicted to be a P-glycoprotein substrate by an AI program that researchers use. This gene is the one related to why certain dogs have problems with Ivermectin. The gene can cause problems processing drugs.

By the way, your factual knowledge is far greater than mine.

Only because I got a whole genome test and have been combing through studies related to my symptoms and gene variations. But that is only part of the battle. Once you figure it out then you have to find the Doctor who knows how to deal with it.

Drug processing problems? Good Luck with that. All my doctors are clueless. I did luck out and stumbled on the type of place I needed to go who actually has a clue. Specialists in Pharmacology.

My guess is that many people here have drug processing problems but just don’t know it yet.
