A Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden employee was hospitalized Thursday after she was bitten by a highly venomous rattlesnake.
The eastern diamondback rattlesnake snapped at the employee around 4 p.m. in a “behind the scenes area” not open to guests, the zoo’s communications director Michelle Curley told the Cincinnati Enquirer.
The unnamed staffer — who works in the reptile house — was taken to the hospital in stable condition. She had only received a partial bite and did not require antivenom, Curley said, adding her prognosis is good.

She received a partial bite and required no antivenom. Why is this a story?

Because of Harambe
I believe the Mojave Rattler is the most venomous in the USA.
South America has plenty of nasty cousins to our rattlers.
Most venomous? Eastern Diamondbacks are the biggest, but the Mojave Green is the worst. It has regular rattler venom plus a neurotoxin like cobra venom.
Very nasty.
The Coral snake’s venom is deadlier.

That doesn’t work worth a damn. You go to Yellowstone and watch idiots getting in the grill of elk, buffalo, and bears and then get in the news because they are stupid. Then they put an animal down because of it. Play with snakes you get bitten sometimes. Tough horse apples. Suck it up buttercup. Is what I think of zoo mishaps. Actually I kinda feel that way about Yellowstone too. I hunt elk, I live in bear country. You gotta pay attention and it’s your risk. A person can always stay home.
