In some cities, politicians outsmarted the virus with evasive tactics, such as closing bars at 10pm, and mandating one-way aisles in grocery stores.
Many lives were were saved.
A better study would be to examine the rise of petty tyranny as measured by political affiliation.

Really good, but creepy question. I say 'creepy' because I heard some hospital systems were using AI named EPIC, to direct treatment and AI's could easily be crossed with demographics, voting records etc. anything in a database. Back then I was concerned Republicans would be singled out for Remdesivir etc. I think I did read that the unvaccinated were prescribed Remdesivir/ventilators more often then unvaccinated.
One suspects most strongly that the conclusions were made before the study began and guided study design and assumptions.
A cynic might also conclude that many of the Dem voters were long-dead anyway.
