My favorite is just a stove top in a skillet. I use a cut up Costco all beef big hot dog. Brown a bit in some olive oil. Remove to a bowl. Sautee chopped opinion and shishito peppers chopped. When done add a can of good brand pork and beans. Stir, add back the hot dog. Optional a drizzle of maple syrup. Serve in the same bowl.

Just add minced horseradish to any beans, canned or homemade.

why start with crappy “Beenie Weenie” beans?

He didn't use those. He only showed the can to say how horrible they were.

He used two different kinds of dried beans for his actual recipe.

In doing so, he also added a lot of layers to a dish that my mom prepared largely because it was quick and easy, but still hearty and tasty. When he stated “why have one kind of bean when you can have two”? My answer is because white beans go better with hot dogs than pinto beans. I have never seen anyone prepare hot dogs and beans with beanie weenies, always B & M, Friends, or if your store is awful, Bush’s.
